Our hosts were very nice, helped us with any questions, picked us up from the ferry (saving us a 15 minute walk with out luggage) and gave us and the kids delicious Japanse candy and snacks. They also speak really good English. Highly recommend!

My hosts were wonderful. They helped me to feel right at home and made excellent recommendations for dinner and sightseeing. 😎😋🙏🏼 I had the upstairs to myself and the bed was very comfortable. They catered for my dietary requirements at breakfast and I enjoyed chatting to them about their own travels. I would highly recommend this location for solo women travellers or couples.

Nothing, I just wished I could have stayed longer

Yaju-san and his wife (and Pooh) were absolutely lovely, they both speak English and Yaju-san even speaks some french!! I was made very welcome and they were able to recommend me a very good Izakaya close by where I could eat dinner. The rooms were spotless and I slept like a log on the very comfortable bed. Very welcoming couple who offered to take our bags at onomichi so that we could attempt the shiminami kaido track. Home was very clean and bed comfortable. Yuji and Junko were so welcoming and helpful. We had planned to bike the Shimanami Kaido and Yuji was very responsive and helped us with bike rentals and luggage transportation. They picked us up from the ferry terminal and offered to drive us to the shops to get rain gear as there was some rain in the forecast the next day. They provided dinner recommendations and gave us little snacks to try. Junko made a delicious breakfast the next morning before our bike ride. The location is a short walk from the main shops/bike rental (~10 mins). Again they offered to drive us, but we didn't mind a short walk. Yuji and Junko are great hosts and we loved getting to know them. This was one of our favourite experiences on this trip. It felt more personal and homey than the hotels we had been staying at.

We felt very welcome in Yuji and Junko's home. On arrival, they invited us in and we all sat together talking and enjoying some tea and special treats. As guests, you have the entire top floor of their recently renovated house. The beds were comfortable with one of the thickest, but lightest, duvets I have slept under. The lounge room has a low set comfortable lounge, TV, under mat heating and separate airconditioning. The bedroom also has its own airconditioning. The shower has good hot water. Junko gave us some recommendations regarding nearby restaurants that made okonomiyaki. We had dinner there one night - delicious and ridiculously cheap. And later that evening when we returned, Yugi and Junko invited us to share some beer and wine with them, and we again enjoyed just sitting and chatting to them. I have no hesitation in recommending a stay with Yugi and Junko, but note that It is probably best if you have your own transport. Thank you Junko. Thank you Yugi. P.S. We also had breakfast there each morning - very nice and very well priced.

The owners, Yuji and Junko, were very welcoming and the rooms were great. There were ACs in every room as well as several other sources of heat, even a heated carpet. The restroom and shower were very modern, too. It's in a quiet neighborhood, and not directly in the city center, but it can easily be reached by ferry, and they drove me to the ferry. All in all a great place to stay!

We stayed 2 nights at the property, and would highly recommend it. Yuji and Yunko were very hospitable. They picked us up at the ferry and at the bus stop after the bike trip. They helped us with the bike rentals. We even shared a beer in the evening with them and their daughter Nao. They spared no effort to make us feel welcome. The room is actually the 2F of a small house on Mukaishima island. This means you get a lot more space than most hotels. Everything is clean, and the beds (twin beds) are fairly comfortable. The neighbourhood is quiet. A convenience store and 24/7 supermarket is close to the Inn, although we didnt go there. Island Country Inn is easy to reach from the Onomichi train station (not the shinkansen one), the ferry to Mukaishima is short and frequent, and as mentioned they provide a transfer from the terminal to the Inn. We found it an ideal location to do the bike day trip over all the islands/bridges, and we would certainly stay there again.

This was a highlight of our time in Japan. We planned to ride the Shimanami Kaido bike route from Imabari to Onomichi. Our hosts were so welcoming and accommodating similar to an Airbnb. They offered to drop us at the bus stop the morning of our bike ride and recommended local restaurants and sights. We were blessed with a wonderful home-cooked breakfast each morning with fresh local produce that fuelled us for the day ahead. Our hosts were happy to answer our questions and supported us to ensure we did not get lost. We were provided with full access to the 2nd floor of the house (hosts stay on the ground level) with a private bedroom, living room, bathroom and toilet. All facilities were modern, clean and very comfortable.

Junko and Yuji have been excellent hosts and made my stay super welcome! The property is spacious & clean, and I had the entire upstairs to myself that includes a bedroom, separate living room, and private bathroom. They are very friendly and made sure I'm comfortable and well accommodated, and the stay includes a free pick-up/drop off service from the ferry across Onomichi JR station. I would also highly recommend the optional breakfast which was delicious with local fresh bread. I would highly recommend this for visitors riding the Shimanami Kaido. For me, I took the train to Onomichi JR in the afternoon, stayed overnight here and then was fresh & ready for my ride first thing in the morning. I would love to do the Kaido again in the reverse direction and this would be a perfect spot for the endpoint and I would definitely stay here again.

From the moment we arrived we felt very welcomed by Yuji and Junko. They picked us up from the ferry. The house we stayed at was comfortabel and clean. The breakfast was really nice. Renting (big😃) bikes was a piece of cake with the help from Yuji. Over the days we got to know Yuji and Junko. They're kind and pleasant people. Don't hesitate about booking your stay here! We had an amazing time.

We chose to stay here in advance of doing the Shimanami Kaido cycle from Onomichi, in order to get to Mukaishima, you will need to exit Onomichi station, cross over the footbridge and go onto the ferry which costs 100 yen per person. I would recommend calling ahead while you are waiting for the ferry to allow time for pickup. Yuji, Junko and Akana were extremely welcoming hosts providing door to door service and a lovely home cooked breakfast with actual proper bread!! for only 500 yen per person. For 2 people you have your own bedroom and living room. Well worth staying here especially if you want a more personal experience.
