The bathhouse and reception closes at 10pm while the sauna closes at 10:30pm so you might need to plan ahead when you stay with them. The fridge in my room had a faulty exhaust so the cupboard containing it was very warm and had a burnish smell.

The hotel was overhauled from a hotel building during the 80s. The rooms were simple in design, giving it a very clean and hospitable feeling when I first went in. The staff was attentive and hospitable during my stay, and I had a great time using their sauna facility, free for staying guests. They do not have their own bathhouse, instead we can use the local town bathhouse nearby which is also complimentary for us (usually costing 1000 yen), it was also a great experience.

None that I can think of.

I like that the design is pretty modern and clean and the staff were really helpful and accommodating.

Cozy and comfortable hotel in a beautiful town

The staff was so incredibly kind and helpful and patient. I don't speak Japanese and they accommodated me with great English for explanations and conversations. They explained everything about the hotel and town in great detail, including the onsen and restaurants. They went out of their way to research specific public transport connections in this remote area for me, it was so kind. The room is well designed and was immaculate, it has a really cozy nook with a view of the river, very lovely. The shower room is tall! The town itself is so beautiful with the river and its red bridges that light up at night. The onsen which you get free entry to through the hotel had above average sulfuric water at 39°c. It takes effort to reach from the next Shinkansen station but I think it adds a lot of charme and makes it a hidden gem. Loved my stay and hope to return some time.

An onsen & sauna trip updated with a sense of connection to community and nature.

Limited nightlife and dining nearby. The area is peaceful, but that means few options for dining out after dark—best to plan ahead.

The architecture and interior design are modern yet warm, perfectly blending with the surrounding nature and onsen town atmosphere. There’s a unique sense of openness. Wonderful welcoming staff make it easy to connect with locals and other travelers.
