Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SingaporeIt is a little pricey and, just being a little picky, the basin is not very clean where I can see the yellow stain in the basin, maybe it needs extra effort to make it spotless..
The service, ambience, location, almost everything is so good.

United StatesAs far as authentic ryokan experiences go, Sui Suwako is the pinnacle. Between the in-room onsen, exceptional breakfast & dinner, and outstanding professionalism of the staff, Sui Suwako gives you everything you could want. They also offer a free tour of the city's 4 grand shrines, which is something you likely won't want to miss while in Suwa.

United StatesThe only complain is that the breakfast is either 8:00 or 8:30, which was a bit early for resort stay.

IsraelIf I would have to sum up my stay in one word it will be Perfection. I have been to a lot of ryokans, and this is one of the bests, if not the best. The moment you first enter the ryokan, and take off your shoes, you are greeted by the amazing staff with tea and local handmade treat, before being lead to your suite. The suite itself is beautifully decorated, spacious and comes with amazing view of lake Suwa from both the common area and the private onsen. Both dinner and breakfast, which are made from seasonal and local ingredients and change daily, were delicious and an amazing experience. The staff were kind to make onigiri, rice balls, from the dinner's leftover rice and deliver them to the suite. At night the first floor tea room becomes a bar serving amazing local sake, and other drinks, along with food. The roof mixed bath was one of the stay highlights, the amazing view of lake Suwa and the surrounding towns as the sun set, painting everything in orange and purple, and then when it became dark and all the lights were turned on was beautiful. The sunrise also was worth waking up for.

JapanThe location, facilities, size of the rooms, and cleanliness are all great, but two things stood out the most: the courteousness of the staff and the excellent food. We had dinner and breakfast included in our booking and the food was amazing! It was definitely the best meals I've had since coming to Japan. All of the staff were very welcoming, and Kitahara-san was just exceptional. She was an amazing host and made us feel very comfortable throughout our 3-day stay. We have nothing but good memories from our trip. Oh, there was some fireworks in Lake Suwa on our second evening there. We could see it from the private bath from our room - it was such a special experience to watch beautiful fireworks while having a good hot spring bath after an amazing dinner.

GermanyExcellent first class personal. The service in Japan's hospitality has been always top notch for me but sui suwako topped this by a mile. We had an elder woman, I regret not asking for her name, she served us so tremendously during our stay. Her English also was better than most of the young people from tokyo. We had a big room in the fifth floor. Beautiful interior, the Star was obviously the private onsen. On the sixth floor you can find the public mixed onsen which we didn't used. Not a fan of wearing clothes in the onsen, but definitely understandable for a mixed onsen.
