    — The ryokan is much better looking than the photos. My young kids loved it. — The owner was very helpful. — Loved eating the excellent Japanese breakfast on the traditional dining table — Great to finish a long day in the sento/shared bath — Easy walking distance to all the sights

I liked everything. Starting from the lovely design of the entrance and the rooms, the cozy onsen, the tasty breakfast and the kind hosts. Exceptional!

    Nothing at all.

    Everything is beautiful

If I have to say something is that the onsen is a bit old but is part of the charm

This is a traditional Ryokan which will give you a very good experience of how it's like to stay at a traditional Ryokan. The hosts were very nice and pleasant, they would always greet you when you entered or left the inn with a bow. The food was good, although I only tried the Japanese style food set and not the continental one they also offer. One thing I really enjoyed with this Ryokan was the bath, which is a traditional Japanese sento/onsen (sorry, I'm not quite sure of the difference) which is open until 11pm every day which is nice, so you can come back late and have a bath. The location of this Ryokan is fantastic, very close to most things you'd want to visit while in Kanazawa, being close to Kanazawa castle, Kenroku-en park, Omi Cho market, higashi chaya-gai, kazue machi Chaya and Asano river. Kanazawa station and Nagamachi district is only around 20-30 minutes away by foot. I would recommend anyone interested in staying at a Ryokan to stay at Sumiyoshiya.

I have no complaints at this time.

A very nice traditional, simple ryokan in a historic building right in the heart of Kanazawa yet very quiet. The owner is lovely and made sure my room is ready for an early check-in even if I just asked to store my luggage. She speaks English well so no problems in communication.

Lovely stay in a traditional ryokan. We didn't have meals at the ryokan but still received warm welcomes from the owner lady each time we left and came back to the ryokan. Room was very lovely with tatami mats and very comfy futon beds with hot tea to come back to each day. Onsens were so so good to help relieve our sore feet and bodies from all the walking. Thank you so much!

Some noise from cars outside the window but didn't bother us too much.

We get welcomed very friendly, the owners are incredibly attentive and caring. We also really liked the sento, the bath was always running hot. Our room was very spacious, and the whole ryokan is curated and clean. Lastly the breakfast was generous and it was no issue to accomodate me as a vegetarian.

Not much to say here, though we are not very used to the harder Japanese beds. But that is part of booking a ryokan.
