My only complaint is that I wish I stayed longer.

First of all, the location was wonderfully easy to find from Matsumoto Station. Secondly my dorm had AC which felt so luxurious during the summer heat. Third the amenities were amazing; clean showers, toilets, rooms, comfy beds, roomy common areas, free tea and coffee, stove, fridge, hot water kettle, microwave, dishes. However, as much as I liked the actual place, the people are what make this accomodation special. I think I loved Matsumoto so much because of my hosts. They were so welcoming, and made you feel like family walking through the door. Greeted you with such warmth and enthusiasm. I literally watched them interact with all their guests with such genuine curiosity, interest, and hospitality. I was almost taken a back by the amount of care they put into making sure you enjoyed their city. Their pride in Matsumoto, really ensures you have an enjoyable stay, not only in their accomodation, but in the city as a whole.

Probably my favorite hostel while traveling in Japan. It's located very close to Matsumoto castle, as well as a lot of restaurants. The staff was extremely nice, making me feel welcome from start to finish. There is a bar and communal location, perfect for socializing, especially if you're a solo traveler.

The cooking area and kitchen are really good with lots of room for everyone. Also the communal area is very comfortable and a great place to meet people. Facilities are super clean.

Very clean, cozy and comfortable to stay. The furniture here are wonderful and I like how they decorated and designed the hostel. Location is great, just 15 minutes walk to the main station. Staffs are very kind, friendly and helpful. Hospitality here is amazing! Plus they serve good craft beer ypu should try

Highly recommend! I've stayed in plenty of hostels around Japan, and this is possibly the friendliest and homiest one i've ever stayed at. The bar downstairs is perfect to socialise with the incredibly friendly staff on shift, and a great way of chatting to both the locals and people staying the night. Not to mention the beds were very comfy, and a locker outside the room for some added security. The location was great also, not a long walk from the castle or the train station, with plenty if restaurants near by.

What a perfect spot! Close to the Matsumoto Castle and a great sushi restaurant, Kakube! They made a perfect Ryokan out of nothing, truly amazing. A fire place, nice place to sit and read, drink tea, lovely kitchen. Everything was perfect!

The staff was really nice. I managed to check in a bit earlier than expected, and the reception staff took the time to go over the map of Matsumoto to give me recommendations of places to go and eat. The place is very clean and comfortable. The female-only doorm is really big and the beds comfortable. The atmosphere is very chill and relaxing.

Tabi-shiro had really friendly and kind staff, and a really cosy and accommodating sociable area where you could sit and work, or chat, or keep quietly to yourself. The rooms and facilities were very clean, comfortable, and safe if you’re travelling alone.

The best part of Tabi-Shiro is the leaflet full of all the recommended spots in Matsumoto. We also loved the souvenirs you can buy there. There is also a sauna which you can book for private sessions.
