The spacious, clean room. The relaxation areas such as the lounge and the library. We liked the onsen, both the indoor and outdoor ones. The buffet dinner was excellent. It had many options and delicacies, both in western and Japanese. The dining area was spacious, serving staff were excellent. The free drinks and snacks in the lounge and the library for retreat were excellent bonus.

GermanyThe onsen water temperature could have been a little hotter for my personal preference. The food selection was less suitable for vegetarians or pescetarians than anticipated.
The onsen were clean and nice, the rooms spacious and comfortable. Really enjoyed the all inclusive aspect with beer on tap & ice cream after the onsen. We booked a shuttle service from Sendai station via the booking.com chat which worked perfectly. Wonderful destination for a little break.

United StatesIt would be better if instead of having one bath for men in the morning and women in the evening and the other bath vice versa, it would be nice to have them alternate everyday, so one bath stays the men’s bath the whole day, then it switches to women’s the next day so that you can have all baths at different times

AustraliaThe hotel is about 30 mins driving distance from Sendai train station and offer limited shuttle bus service to guests. If people miss the shuttle bus , you have to take public transport to the hotel. It could be good to provide more shuttle bus service to guest arriving or leaving from Sendai
TAOYA Akiu is a excellent Japanese onsen hotel near Sendai. The room is super clean and the size of the room is perfect for small family to live in. The food is delicious especially the Japanese cuisine. The hotel offers the free drinks to all guests all day.

We have been travelling around Japan for weeks and this place was the first place to feel like a relaxing holiday. We booked a half board accommodation, include buffet breakfast and dinner, afternoon light snack with free flow of drinks. Huge room with good view. Onsen is spectacular. hotel staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Free hotel shuttle bus to Sendai station, need to book in advance.

IndonesiaThe staff when the first time check in, the Japanese lady who greet in the front and the lady who take care our check in. They are not really polite and they can't speak English at all but even they didn't show a hospitality gesture to me as foreigner guests. Their attitude is ruined up our check in impression but by the time we stay several days finally we can feel the hospitality of others staffs in the FO, Onsen dept and housekeeping department. If I can suggest you to check the old Japanese greeter and the Japanese lady in FO, she can't even smile and never showing hospitality at all with less English which is still ok if she can show at least polite Japanese gesture.
The Onsen feeling, the facilities and the free snack bar is FOC to guests so we can enjoy freely

AustraliaI didn't think the choices available in the included alcohol package were that good - I'd have been happier to pay slightly less for the package, and be able to pay additionally for anything I wanted to drink. Check out time of 10 was a little earlier than I'd have liked (I could have spent a little longer in the baths.)
Classic onsen hotel, and an excellent chance to soak in the geothermal water at Akiu. Very helpful staff (N.B. not all staff speak English, but Google translate is very helpful.) The buffet dinner had lots of good options (though, again, take your smartphone so you can translate the labels.) Quite good value, when you consider the included meals. I didn't realise there was a shuttle service available from Sendai JR station - it is possible to get to Akiu on a public bus, but it takes a while, and isn't very regular.

SingaporeI think their room needs to be upgraded to match the hotel luxurious entrance, lobby and interior design. And is good that they do not have mass volume tourist that may spoil the quiet embience and tranquility. Their indoor onsen is not very well designed because the cold air escape inside which makes it quite chilling during winter. I was quiet surprised to see the top window open slightly which might be the cause of the cold air. Overall is a good experience for me and we all enjoyed our stay for the 3 nights.
Taoya Aiku is a beautiful hotel. The lounge provide free drinks and snacks through the day free. Breakfast and dinner are buffet style. Very generous spread of Japanese cruisine, small corner of Italian, soft drinks, beer, coffee/tea, wide variety of soda to mix on your own for both breakfast and dinner (of course no beer during breakfast). There are also massage chairs, a beautiful library, table tennis and karaoke room, all free but need to reserve with the front desk. A perfect place to rest and relax without need to venture out. The onsen is big and spacious, has both indoor and outdoor. The room was slightly older but is well kept. We booked a big ryoken room for 6 of us to spend 3 nights together. This place is not within walking distance of train or bus station and definitely need to drive unless you are planning to take their shuttle service. All the staff only speaks Japanese and majority of the guests are local. Nice because more privacy and quiet environment. It is a very nice hotel which emphasise on comfort and style.
