Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe house and location are fantastic. Gujo-Hachiman is a beautiful city, and the home was perfect for what we needed. It felt like being inside someone's family home. Masa went well above and beyond to help us - there was heavy rain overnight which caused landslides on the main exits from the city. Masa found a route we could take, and guided us over an hour in his car so we could leave (Google maps kept telling us to go on closed roads) so we would likely have been stuck without his help. Thanks again!

PolandA wonderful stay at a classic Japanese house! The host was incredibly kind and welcoming, taking the time to explain everything about the home and the city of Gujo. He also gave us an excellent recommendation for a local izakaya, which was the perfect spot for dinner. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an authentic and personal experience!

We had a wonderful stay! The location is perfect—just a short walk to the temples and everything in town. The area is beautiful and peaceful, making it easy to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Our host, Masa, was amazing—so kind, helpful, and attentive. He picked us up when we arrived and even dropped us off when we left, which made everything so easy. The house was clean, cozy, and had everything we needed. We felt very comfortable and well taken care of. We highly recommend visiting this lovely town and staying at the Nomad Inn. You won’t regret it!

New ZealandThe house was very traditional and located in the historic area. Easy walk to lots of sites and the castle. The house was well equipped. The hosts were very nice and greeted us on arrival. It was an unexpectedly awesome stop, we wish we could have stayed longer. The house and area was extremely quiet, it is expected that guests are very quiet also.

SpainIt was quite cold when we arrived but it warmed up quickly with the air conditioner, although it didn't reach the bathroom area.
The attention of the owner is great. If you are are looking for an authentic Japanese old town house, this is the place for you. Futons were nice.

United KingdomThis is a great place to stay if you’re travelling Japan. The host is just so lovely and the location is magical. It’s well worth going! The only thing to be aware of is the fact the bathroom is on the floor below where you sleep, which can be a bit stressful for those who are needing it closer (I was pregnant at the time). But despite that, I would still rebook because Gujo is magical and this spot feels very special with a lovely host

United KingdomThere is nothing to dislike about the Nomad Inn. It’s a beautiful house with gorgeous views. The owner, Mr Masa is a very sweet person who was always happy to give suggestions and guide us. He helped us with our luggage and transportation as well, I can’t thank him enough. The house is close to attractions while being in a quiet area and also has all amenities you would need. I really wish I’d booked more time but will definitely be back

Masa-san was an amazing host. Helpful with our late check-in and recommendations for the local area. The house had everything we needed and was very clean and spacious. It is a traditional house so rooms had tatami and futons. Restaurants and stores were within walking distance and there was parking close by. We will be back.

AustraliaWhat didn't I like! Honestly, it's one of the greatest spots and places I've stayed in Japan. Throws you back to a family house you never had with all the nostalgia of how i imagine weekends away were as a child at grandparents or aunts. The location, township, and people, especially our host, were nothing short of amazing

This is a wonderful place to stay in Gujo if you would like to experience what it’s like to live here! With a view of Gujo Hachiman castle from the upstairs window, this house and town are simply great. Quiet, comfortable, within walking distance of what you come here to see. The owner, Masahiro-San, will treat you like family, and his advice about what to see and where to eat is spot on. If you cannot carry your suitcase up the steps to the upper floor, you can bring the futons downstairs and sleep on the heated floor. We came here with another couple and we all loved this house and Gujo. Ask Masa-San to pick you up at the station, if he can he will! The great reviews are very deserving, if you like Japanese style living you will like Nomad Inn. The 6 am. temple bell will remind you every morning what another world it is here!

MalaysiaHost Masahiro, an easy going person and quick to respond to all queries. Nestled in the old district and within distance to all attractions in Gujo. However the stairway going up to the bedrooms is steep and a challenge to older folks. Otherwise a beautiful ryokan to experience Japanese living.
