How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewIt was an excellent hotel, and the hot springs were a reason that I stayed there. The bath was very nice. Like all hotels in Japan, my Japanese-fluency makes things easier. They were nice enough to store my baggage before check-in, but I am unsure if services like that are possible without linguistic proficiency.

Verified reviewWonderful onsen, sauna, cold plunge pool, indoor outdoor pools. Very clean. Lovely use of wood and tatami matting so the whole hotel you can wear your socks or be barefoot. Comfortable beds and peaceful rooms. Free laundry. You can use your TV to check how busy the restaurant, onsen and laundry is. Also plays lovely relaxation music paired with a peaceful scene. Free noodles at night, free ice blocks after onsen and also probiotic in the morning. Easy walk from Sendai station. Great location near many shops and restaurants.
Nothing I didn’t opt for the breakfast as it was a bit expensive for someone who isn’t a big breakfast eater so I can’t comment on this.

Verified reviewThis hotel was magnificent Great location, lovely people and the onsen is terrific. A real ‘oasis’, inexpensive and fabulous
Not huge on food options but breakfast and the free noodles make up for it. When in Japan, you only have to walk out the door and find everything you need.

Verified reviewWhat a place! Definitely premium vibes. Staff had great English. The onsen was a great - cold plunge, hot bath and hot outside bath; we went in the evening and morning. Robes were provided, even in kids sizes for my little ones (who also got kids packs with small tabi socks, toothbrushes and sponge). We loved the free ice creams after onsen. Also the free half-size ramen after 9pm was a great touch! Air con worked great (necessary in the Japanese summer!). Located about 5 mins walk from Sendai station. Easy walk up to the main shopping streets in Sendai.
I can’t fault a thing about this place. We were a group of 5 (family of 4 with 2 small children, plus 1 grandparent) and I just could not find a suitable accommodation in Sendai but found a twin room and double room at this hotel. The double room bed was quite small for 2 adults but the twin beds were actually much larger than singles so worked perfectly for us for 1 adult and child each. Our rooms were right next door to each other, also excellent.

Verified reviewThe hotel is a unique onsen-style accommodation located right in the heart of the city. It offers complimentary amenities such as ice candies or creams after the bath, a yogurt-like drink in the morning post-bath, and late-night ramen. While the hotel does not serve dinner, it provides an excellent buffet breakfast in the morning. It is conveniently located near Mitsukoshi and SPal, where you can find “depachika” food. Additionally, there are numerous dining options available for all three meals.
Although the hotel is easily accessible from the train station, you will still need to walk from Sendai Station. However, the subway station is located directly in front of the hotel.

Verified reviewBeautiful hotel with Japanese traditional style decor of rooms. Free laundry (100¥ for dryer). Close to the main train station. Room size was good (enough space for moving around with two medium open suitcases).
Note: There is an onsen on site but tattooed people are not allowed. They can give you some stickers to cover up the tattoos but all signs indicate not allowed. If you have large tattoos you can't cover up with the stickers as they are meant for small tattoos.

Verified reviewThe property was very clean and well maintained! The hotel is beautiful. The women’s Onsen was very nice! The stay included all necessary amenities. The room was spacious and the bathroom was reasonably sized! I plan to visit again!
I didn’t like covering my tattoos with the sticker for the Onsen but I understand that’s a cultural difference, not necessarily a hotel issue. It would be nice not to have to though.

Verified reviewAn improved version of dormy inn, which we liked to stay. In very convenient location, only 10 minutes walk from Sendai station or at the exit of the subway station. No shoes in the compound was good. Room was great with good size, clean and neat, beds were comfortable. Free drinks, ice bars and japanese ramen, natural hot spring bath were good. Staff were warm.

Verified reviewHonestly, one of the best hotels I've stayed in. The hot springs were amazing. Really high quality and clean. The food was outstanding. The location was very central. Very close to the subway and Sendai Station. Not a lot of good restaurants around, but that's not the hotel's problem; it's just an FYI. Sendai is just not Osaka:) Overall, if I'm in Sendai again, I will definitely book another room at that hotel. Great value.
