Traditional Japanese style rooms. Owner was really amazing, helped bring me to the station after check out. He was also very helpful in addressing my inquiries despite the language barrier.

there's only one bath and shower, so you might have to line up for your turn. it's shared between genders so one can be a bit conscious when being in one space.

Easy access area with a very friendly and welcoming host. The ryokan had a very lovely and well kept onsen.

Only inconvenience for us tall individuals was how easy it was to hit our heads in various passages in the building.

This hotel is fantastic way beyond my expectations. I could live like a Japanese landlord 200 years ago.. the room where I slept it was not a room but a full apartment and it looked like a museum. Indeed, all furniture was 200 years old. The stuff was so kind so helpful they lended me for free a bicycle and even they gave a free lift to the railway station at the end of my stay. In front of the hotel, there is an old fish market so it’s an experience when you jump back into the time. I feel pity that I haven’t booked for more nights here , absolutely worth the price. And the extra is the two beautiful interior gardens What you can admire from your room. Don’t hesitate to book here!

Absolutely beautiful classic ryokan. Our room was a mini palace, delightfully decorated, with garden views. The host is very kind and welcoming and the location is within easy walking distance to the old town, many restaurants and Hikone Castle. A gem.

Loved the rooms, really traditional feel to them. Even had complimentary green tea! There was also a private onsen/bath which was sooo nice after a long day of travelling

The bathroom was downstairs and along the hall but honestly wasn’t that bad, there was a lovely garden you walked past to get there. The host doesn’t speak much if any English but google translate helped me ask any questions I had

Loved it…authentic Japanese ryokan. We stopped off in Hikone for one night just to stay at this ryokan, and do pleased that we did 😊. Going to Hikone castle was an added bonus.

Very traditional - two large tatami rooms and access to a balcony. My son said it was his favourite accomodation on our trip.

The place for us has been the most genuine experience we had during our trip and made us feel we were really in Japan this time. It’s an authentic place, so it doesn’t have all the mod cons that some travellers might expect, but we were thrilled with the enormous room, the lovely onsen, and the whole feel of the place. The owner was very accommodating and helpful in all respects and also prepared us some great breakfasts and dinners. A very memorable stay in a town that’s definitely off the beaten track but has a lot to offer.

Great stay at a tasteful house with a charm, internal Japanese garden, balcony overlooks it from a vast room. Very kind and friendly host family, excellent value at Hikone. Good heating. Lots of eateries nearby. In house hot bath. 7-11 accross the corner. Have a walk at night to see the castle lighted.

    All was splendid.

Historic property. Lovely interiors. Because of its age, it doesn’t have in suite bathrooms. There is a nice onsen which was very welcome as we were here in Feb and it was cold and snowy.

Room was chilly. But we had plenty of blankets and a space heater.

The staff at this hotel were exceptionally kind and welcoming! We arrived on motorcycles and were able to park them for free under the shelter right by the entrance. The room was spacious, and we had a wonderfully comfortable sleep. The bathroom was also impressively large, with an equally spacious bathtub. The location is excellent, making it easy to go for a walk, sightsee, or find something delicious to eat nearby.

However, there’s only one bathroom available, so if someone takes a long time, you might have to wait quite a while. (That being said, the bath is so relaxing and enjoyable that it’s easy to understand why someone might take their time soaking! ) :)

The Ryokan was nice, tatamis were very comfortable, location was good, owners were friendly. They helped to send my family to Hikone train station, which helped a lot.

The whole property shared one bathroom facility…..which meant we had to wait for quite a while. Will be very inconvenient for groups with males and females.

Overall a incredible stay. Nice rooms, everything working as it should, good location and amazing service from the staff. My friend forgot something and had to go back and was driven to the station a second time.

Maybe the futon was a but too thin for my liking
