Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Hong KongNo outdoors onsen on this one, unlike Kanazawa. Midnight noodles aren't available until midnight - only 11pm.
Large onsen with a sauna, a cold water pool, and two warm pools. While the room was the same size as their place in Kanazawa, the layout made it feel more spacious, and the bathroom was Japanese-style with access to spring water. Solid breakfast buffet and midnight noodles. It's tatami-style, so you'll need to check your shoes when coming in, but can then spend all your time walking around barefoot if you want.

United StatesIn room onsen was the highlight! I had to take a couple baths a day; it's a wooden ofuro in a full shower room; the ofuro is fed by the hot spring. I even squeezed a bath in 20 min before checkout! There's also a nice public onsen. The room was a cross between business hotel and traditional Japanese room - it had the tatami floor but was small like a business hotel; it wasn't a place to hang out. The whole hotel is no shoes (shoe lockers on the first floor). Great buffet breakfast that included local specialties as well as some western dishes.

JapanI think the breakfast buffet can be improved. More diversity and local food. I know it's standardized for the franchise but I think the local kitchen can spend a bit more effort on designing the menu. It's still good but feels like something was missing.
Good facility. Friendly staff. Comfortable and good value.

The property is a Dormy Inn but more Japanese traditional style. It’s super clean and breakfast was good. Has a great Onsen. And Toyama is a great little town to hang out in for a while. Cleanest town in Japan that I have been in. Lovely people and fun area around the train station for shopping and eating.

ChinaA famous serious business onsen hotel. Like other hotels in this series, the room is small, which means if you have large suitcases, it will be hard for you to find a place for it. However, the Onsen is better than expected, as they provide two types, inside and outside. Both are small but is kind of enough for this type of hotel. Breakfast and the latenight soba is not bad, as expected.

The hotel is clean, all guests have to take off shoes and leave it in locker at ground floor. The double room is just fitted for 2 person, the bed and pillow are comfortable, the bathroom is nice and clean. The public onsen have 6 pools, very good. Staff are friendly and helpful. AustraliaWhilst liking the Japanese concept I got tired of walking around on compressed tatami mats and the shoe taking on and off was difficult, not enough Western height seats. The height of bed, chair and stool too low for comfort. The pillows were standard Dormy Inn bags of mortar. The worst in 2 whole weeks of travel excepting same at Dormy Inn Osaka.
Onsens, though often very busy. Location, good a/c, nice Japanese shower tub with spa water. Comfortable mattress.

United StatesThe room is a bit small if you're traveling as a couple. We got one small, hard pillow on the bed - another one would have been nice. But the run was certainly clean and everything worked well.
I paid extra for morning breakfast - the buffet was great!

MalaysiaThe rooms & beds were small but expected. The room temperature was hard to adjust
The location is great with a shopping mall next to it and many cafes, food carts and restaurants nearby. It is also within walking distance to many popular places such as the Glass Art Museum and Matsukawa River. The rooms were quiet at night despite being at the center of the city. The breakfast variety wasn't that wide but was still sufficient for us. And they provided us with many local dishes which we highly appreciated.

IsraelMy only complaint is that we could hear the noise from the crosswalk light and it was annoying at night.
The hot springs were great, the room was pretty specious (for Japan).
