How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe hotel is near China town and Publish transportation. We can walk to Red Brick Warehouse around 15 minutes. The room is cozy and tidy.
The breakfast. The dining room is too small compared to the number of guests. We have to make a long queue to get the food that almost ended when our turn come.

Verified reviewthe location is good and customer service is always present, the room was pretty small but okay for a short stay
the breakfast variety wasn’t great (i stayed in odawara tokyo inn and their breakfast was MUCH better) there also isn’t any takeaway boxes for the breakfast which is annoying. despite paying on arrival for a later check out i received a call at 10am on the day of checkout telling me to get out my room because i needed to check out - i told them i had paid for later checkout and they argued saying i didn’t, after checking for 10mins they recognised they were wrong and the staff members attitude over the phone wasn’t very pleasant. the pillow is a rock so good luck not getting a neck ache too.

Verified reviewLocation and price! The supplied breakfast was a bonus, the parking on site was also useful and affordable!
The beds! The bed was so uncomfortable as was the pillow, very, very firm. We also booked as a family of 4, we were provided 2 towels and when asked for additional 2 towels we were advised that they were not included but an additional charge; however the 2 additional pillows were supplied with no extra charge. Also inside the room on arrival there was a sock on the floor under a bed and also a pocket torch that was on inside the bin, so the room wasn’t cleaned properly before we arrived.
Thank you very much for staying with us. We apologize for making you feel uncomfortable. We will make sure that there are no cleaning defects in the future.

Verified reviewThe location was very convenient. Near a couple of useful stations and next to Chinatown. It was cheap. I did like their own brand sparkling water they had in one of the 2 vending machines.
I booked it mainly for the buffet breakfast, but the whole experience was horrible. The food wasn't good, but it wasn't that bad either. There is no real room to eat, just a space near the front desk. Breakfast is from 6:30 to 9 I think, but from about 7:30 onwards there was a line of people with a loooooong wait to get in with nowhere near enough tables to accommodate and no staff to help. So people were claiming tables with hats and what not and if you did decide to line up and wait 30 minutes or whatever you would probably have to take the food up to your room. It was chaotic. Never seen anything like it. Had to skip it the first day. Second day, had to wake up very early to try and get a seat and of course couldn't go up for seconds so had to pile my plate from the get go. The whole scene was ridiculous. As for the room, we booked a non-smoking room which was on a non-smoking floor. The room stunk of old cigarette smoke. It was me and my daughter. My daughter stayed for free which was nice. But, they don't provide towels or anything for her as she's free. She's 8. She needs something. They don't clean the rooms between days, which is fair enough. A money saving thing? But they don't even come in for the used wet towels. I noticed people were hanging them on the door handle outside the room if they wanted them taken away. Again, ridiculous. Looked a complete mess and very unprofessional. I didn't see anywhere written that that is what you needed to do either. Like it was left to the guest to try and figure out? The shower pressure was next to none. Felt like I was trickling water over myself to try and get clean. It was very cheap, but I've stayed in cheaper hotels and hostels too that were much, much better. Possibly the second worst hotel I've stayed in in Japan.
