Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsAs already mentioned, the room was small by Dutch standards, and we had to unpack our suitcases on the bed and stack them in the room.
We had a pleasant stay at Sotetsu Fresa Inn Nihombashi during our time in Tokyo. The location is excellent for sightseeing, with easy access to major attractions via nearby metro stations. Both Kayabacho Station (Tozai & Hibiya Lines) and Nihombashi Station (Ginza & Tozai Lines) are just a short walk away, making it a convenient base for exploring the city. Check-in is primarily self-service via machines, but thankfully the staff on-site assisted us. Their English was limited, but they used a translation app effectively, which helped smooth the process. As expected in Japan, the room was small, but it had everything we needed and was extremely clean. The bathroom was also compact but functional. One standout feature was the generous selection of free amenities in the lobby — everything from toothbrushes and razors to hair ties and hair gel was available, which was a nice touch. We also opted for the breakfast. While the selection was somewhat limited, it was more than sufficient and very tasty. We read that they may be discontinuing this service in the future, which would be a pity. Overall, Sotetsu Fresa Inn Nihombashi is a great choice if you're looking for a clean, efficient, and well-located hotel in central Tokyo.

United KingdomThe room was very tight so for a large couple it may be challenging but room sizes are similar across the city
Staff were super friendly, courteous and professional. The food prepared by a partner on site was also very good. Location was accessible to all attractions and the bed was comfortable.

Belgiumthe rooms are very small (as expected for Tokyo). As a solo traveler it was sufficient, but I wouldn't stay there if I was with someone else as there isn't even space to open a suitcase.
This hotel is well situated, only 3 minutes away from the metro station. It's nothing fancy but it has everything you need for a short stay. The staff is always there to assist you with anything you need.

CanadaRooms are a little outdated and could use a refurbish and quarters are quite tight even by Japanese standards.
Our teenage companion love the free facemasks, staff were excellent and very helpful, location was superb. One block from major subway lines, breakfast was excellent as well.

BelgiumMandatory cleanup every three days even though it really wasn't needed. Very tiny rooms as usual at this price point in Japan. Not a good location for tourism, far from interesting locations mostly. Very boring neighborhood later in the evening. Strange "dry water", expect it has something to do with the hotel advertising having "good to drink" water from the tap - while showering, your skin gets very "matte" afterwards.
Hotel was fine, staff was very nice and helpful. Ample amenities to be taken for free at reception. Three washing/drying machines, coin-operated. Strange but complimentary breakfast.

SpainThe breakfast is poor. We can select an option from a menu that contains very little food. The room is very tiny.
The location is close to Tokyo Station and not very far from Ueno Station, both easily accessible by metro. The staff is polite.

Well located, just a few metres away from a metro station, so easy to reach other areas in town. At walking distance from Tokyo Station, Ginza and Akihabara if someone doesn’t want to use transport. Rooms are not big but comfortable and clean. Breakfast is fine and staff friendly.

AustraliaThe breakfast was very basic, and the eggs were a bit dry and bland. If I stayed again, I probably would not choose to have their breakfast.
The staff seemed friendly, and it was close to the Metro for travelling around in the train.

AustraliaWe stayed in a smaller room the night before (just how it all worked out) and surprisingly I’d say the smaller room has a better layout/felt bigger for suitcases and two people. However the bed was huge and much nice. If you prefer space do a double room, if you prefer the money to go toward a bigger bed do a comfort double.

AustraliaBooked this room for one night and it was so overpriced. The room itself was fine, pretty standard, but overpriced. I don’t think this is a great location to stay in Tokyo if you’re sightseeing. My recommendation is Akasaka.

PolandBreakfast offered at the hotel wasn’t the best, rather basic.
Good location, metro station just 3-5 minute by foot. The room was small but clean. Big bonus for a variety of cosmetics/ toiletries available at the reception, and the lockers for storing the luggage. The stuff was lovely and helpful. Washing machine and a dryer are the advantage during a longer stay. Ice cube machine in the washroom was a nice touch :)

CanadaThe rooms are wayyy small for 2 people. No dresser or closet so be creative with your clothes. It's doable, just on small side.
The location was great, close to train station and a 7-11, as well as restaraunts. Not a far train ride from Tokyo Station (2 stops). Staff friendly, hotel is clean and the breakfast that is included is great! Soap/shampoo/conditioner plus more all provided. Laundry machines on site, work fine. Red circle is 7-11 and metro entrance from front of hotel.
