Lovely friendly host

The owner is incredibly kind, and we really enjoyed our daily conversations with him before and after exploring Matsushima. The facilities were clean and pleasant, and the guest rooms are located on the first floor, while he and his wife live downstairs. The location was perfect, and the owner was very helpful with recommendations for places to eat, things to see, and other tips. A special thanks goes to him and his wife on our last day, when we had to be evacuated due to a tsunami warning. They took care of us and brought us to safety further inland. They made sure we stayed informed, drove us around to find food, and helped us find a place to sleep for the night. This experience truly reflects their warm hospitality. We will definitely be coming back the next time we are in Japan. (If you are into music i believe you will enjoy seeing his record collection) crazy 😁

Good location. Very clean.

The other guest had their AC turned on before they arrive and the host told them about there is a key for each room they can use for locking. The host helped her to lift luggage... I believe that I paid the same but did not get equal treatment. The only difference between me and the other guest is our nationality (I am not American citizen). I could be over-sensitive, but I felt weird.

The host and his wife are very very friendly and so kind. I stayed there during a tsunami alert and they helped me and they others guest so much. Also he speaks very well english, he has good tips for the stay (Izakaya, sightseeing,...). He's from Matsushima and he knows the area well. Thank you so much.

Eiju (the owner) and his wife are truly generous, kind hearted souls! I felt warmly welcomed and supported. The guesthouse is also centrally located with the sacred sites + temples walking distance and it was also very clean. I also had the opportunity to sing over a few fun songs Eiju played from his record collection, which was wonderful!

Eiju was a wonderful host we so enjoyed talking with him about our lives and Japan,The room was very comfortable and the view of the trees outside was lovely,The bathroom and all the facilities were very good in a great location close to cute shops and cafes.

Simple, but very well-run, clean, and comfortable guesthouse. The owner-operator lives on site and has an amazing vinyl record collection in the lounge. Ask him to play some music for you. Location is just a block off the main road and you're only a few minutes' walk to all the sites in town including the local temples. the fish market, and the harbor cruise. A few convenience stores are about a 10-minute walk away.

Amazing, friendly host with great recommendations and knowledge of the local area. The accomodation was tidy and comfortable and easy to find. The location is quiet but close to the main street of Matsushima and the bay. The host is encouraging of socialising with other guests and engages in good conversation in English.

Shared bathroom but multiple sinks and there were no issues with the facilities overall.

The location was ideal—everything was within easy walking distance. Our host was exceptional: warm, welcoming, and full of helpful tips that enriched our exploration of the region. The rooms were spotless, the house was peaceful, and we slept wonderfully each night.

The house was close to the bay and very clean. The host was incredibly welcoming and accommodating. He called a restaurant in advance to make sure they could offer me a vegetarian dish. He also offered us tasty wine and sake. My stay there was a highlight of my time in Japan. I highly recommend going there!

Aside from the proximity to the waterfront and all of Matsushima's main attractions, the owner of the guest house is really friendly, great to chat to and had plenty of good recommendations for the local area. Great value, comfortable and welcoming. I'll happily be staying at Uchi guesthouse again the next time I'm in the area.

The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly our host, who guided us to a stunning spot where we could marvel at the cherry blossoms in full bloom. Not only was he exceptionally kind and welcoming, but his fluency in English made our experience even more enjoyable. His professionalism and dedication to his role make him truly deserving of the highest praise.
