Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

ChinaI loved every part of it, especially the breakfast. I’m not a morning person but i drag myself out of bed every morning just for the breakfast. Miso soup should be a staple in everyone’s breakfast.

United StatesWish beds were more comfortable, but we brought camping maps from home that helped! Understand that this is often the way in Japan traditional hotels so it was okay.
Loved the value and the community. Great little onsen in the hotel and a perfect crash pad for our family ski trip.

United StatesOur stay at Uchihan was a highlight of our time in Nozawa Onsen! The friendly staff, delicious breakfasts and hot pot dinner, and unbeatable location near the slopes made it perfect. With ski rentals just across the street and a short walk to the lift, our time there was very convenient. Thank you, Uchihan!

ThailandEverything is good for us.
We go to Nozawa Onsen for ski every Feb since the past 10 years and stay in different hotel each time. In general, Uchihan is a good place to stay. I will list what are good points. 1/ Location A/ very short walking distance to skii lift-the smallest of town. But you can ski from this place to the 2 bigger resort center easily. Rental shop for ski equipment is located just in front of hotel. However, we go for the shop that is close to ski lift and leave equipment there when we finish ski. You should reserve ski pass from hotel in advance. They can sell to you with special price. B/ Bus from Iiyama JR station to Nozawaonsen take 25 minutes. You can stop either at N2 or N1 last stop to village. N2 is closer to hotel. However on the way to go back to Iiyama, you should walk to N1 - main station for bus because almost of the time, the bus is full from that station amd can't take more passenger at N2. 3/ Hotel facility They like kids because i see there is small play area for children. There are 2 onsen/hot bath for guests inside hotel which open from 3pm till 10pm. The biggest public onsen in town is just at the corner of hotel. Take 2 minutes walk. Nice one but crowded. The room is bigger than room at all hotels where i had been. Very clean and warm with heater. They also serve breakfast and dinner of you book in advance. We tried breakfast one time. Not really special. Staffs are kind and helpfull. Wifi work well 3/ Restaurant This is main problem of Nozawa when they host more and more tourist. If you plan to eat dinner before 8pm, you must reserve in advance from 1 to 6 days. After 8pm, some restaurants will accept walk in customers. There are 3 restaurants are close to hotel, 2-5 mn walk. We tried hamburger one, it is good. Others, fully book so we don't know about them. Almost restaurants are located at main street of village. It takes you 10 to 15 minutes to go there.

SingaporeFurther away from hikage gondola but close to karasawa chair lift. probably better for people who do not need to attend lessons with the main ski school in the Hikage area)
It has everything required for a comfortable stay - clean, neat rooms, clean shared bathroom with small private onsen (comfortable water temperature), pantry outside (kettle on the second floor, small fridge and microwave on the 3rd, complimentary coffee and tea in the first floor), helpful staff, delicious breakfast. Near a delicious bakehouse and public onsen. Our room could fit up to 4 but might be a squeeze. 3 adults would be just nice.

AustraliaVery friendly host, provided us with welcome flowers, origami, and a sweet note for our honeymoon. Room was spacious and warm. Free washing machines and use of the drying room which dried all our snow clothes overnight. Has basic cookware, microwave and common fridge. Clean, homely, and warm! Slightly far from the main ski lift (Nagasaka) but it is only a short distance from the secondary one which can bring if you already have a ticket.

AustraliaFutons were like sleeping on concrete for our western bodies unfortunately. Also, didn’t bother me but shower/washing room is communal - so my teenage children won’t use during our 3 night stay (I had warned them) - they had to shower at the Sparena!
Lovely tradition Japanese property, within easy walking distance to middle of the village. Lovely host and enjoyed our Japanese breakfast on one of ours mornings. Loved the little onsen in the bathroom for a soak.

AustraliaThe option to shower in the morning would be good but not a necessity.
Uchihan is such a lovely ryokan - location was amazing! We were right by a lift so saved us a lot of hassle walking around with all our gear. It's a lovely, family run, traditional hotel which was exactly what I wanted, the breakfast was lovely if you're open to a more japanese influenced brekkie. Facilities were great, toilet was closed on our floor but a couple on the floor below, the mini onsen is open after 3pm and also nice but the public onsen just outside was bigger and hotter. All around lovely and quaint place, would definitely come back.

Malaysia10 minutes walk from Chuo Bus Terminal but free shuttle bus stop is just 2 minutes down the road. it's not a new traditional inn but clean and quite.
A eco friendly and nice family run with comfortable rooms, some with en-suite toilet. Great shabu shabu hotpot dinner at reasonable price. It's a few minutes walk to Kasawara Ski lift which will get you to Nagasaka and Hikage Ski areas.

PhilippinesGetting there with luggage from the Nakao bus stop requires a few deep breaths, as it is 300 metres uphill along a significant road. Hauling luggage up the stairs is a breeze by comparison. It’s a good 10-15 minute walk into the main area of town, but a nice romantic walk along a small road past traditional houses.
Traditional Japanese inn, with more Japanese than overseas guests. Traditional mat room, nice and warm, quite enchanting … although the futons were a bit challenging for my aching body. Having a small en-suite toilet was great, otherwise it would mean a few stairs. The optional breakfast was a nice combination of small Japanese fare, fish, sausages, salad, rice and soup with coffee, juice and toast. Very filling, and good value at 1300 each. The Japanese hosts tried their best with English, much better than my Japanese, but still much was lost in translation … They were very helpful in booking dinner reservations, which are fairly essential. The small Onsen was most welcome, although only really caters for 1 person at a time. There is a free 3-person one around the corner. The inn is located only 3 minutes walk from the Karasawa lift, which is a great starting and finishing point to a ski day (8:30 - 4:30). It has a large drying area downstairs, along with a guest laundry.

JapanAfter scratching around for a very last minute stay in Nozawa Onsen, a vacancy at Uchihan popped up. Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay! The owner was extremely friendly, bath houses and restaurants just around the corner and an easy 2 minute walk to the Karasawa lift. A simple, clean, affordable and extremely well situated property to the ski fields and town centre. Will certainly be back!
