Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The room had a window which opened to another building, actually a wall - at half a meter distance! The AC had very few options and was very difficult to bear over the night...
The location of the hotel was great. It was very close to Ueno metro station.

The locations is good. The hotel is close to JR Ueno station. And there is a small AEON super market and a Lawson.

Location is nearby Ueno station, but you need to know how to get there from Ueno station, if you don’t know and it could be a headache like I got. The better way to get to hotel is from upper level of Ueno station. Staff are shy I think 🤔 They didn't seem to see you when you enter and leave the hall. But the room service lady was very friendly and sweet!

The room is smaller than it appears in photos. Not an issue for solo travellers, but 2 people with only a carry on suitcase each was a very very very tight squeeze.
Lovely location, friendly and helpful staff, clean and organized.

I just wish there could have been a breakfast offer.
The hotel is very well located, near to the train station and to so many places to eat. It is also near to the zoo and a few museums, including the Tokyo national museum. And yet, it is located in a very quiet street.

Perhaps adopt sustainability practice like not replacing the toothbrush on a daily basis. However, I do appreciate replacing the towel on a daily basis.
The location of the hotel is superb, the keisei skyliner station at ueno is within 1 km walking distance, and the ginza line and yamanote line is within 500 meters of walking. There are plenty of restaurant nearby with relatively good ratings, not to mention the lawson and 7-11 konbini. The staff are friendly and well verse in English. The room is cleaned on a daily basis.

Nothing in particular. Everything met or exceeded our expectations.
The hotel was very clean and well-maintained, and the staff were incredibly kind and attentive. We had a small issue during our stay, and it was resolved immediately with care and professionalism. Their service really stood out and made our stay more comfortable.

Slight Musky smell when first entering room but goes off after opening window and airing, maybe due to the heat or carpet needs refreshing. Need to step up and down to bathroom

Rooms may feel a little cramped if you have a lot of luggage. No city views. The toilet in the room will be a little cramped for people over 6 feet tall.
Great location on the edge of a quiet neighborhood but just steps from a major hub train and metro station, major brand stores and the great Ueno park with its zoo and many museums. Friendly staff were always happy to help. Comfortable bed. Very fast Wi-Fi. Cheap and fast laundry machines. Free filtered water. Clean towels and robes every day. Great price for its location and accommodations.

Room walls could use some stain removing.
The place was quite central, close to a station, and pretty quiet. Sleep eluded us, but because of jetlag. Amenities were quite nice, and they had a selection of teas and coffee.

There was nothing we didn't like, uncomfortable with or complain about.
Excellent location. Clean, comfortable and quiet room. Staff were approachable. I appreciate their formal approach to their interactions with guests. We would stay there again.
