Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

JapanI expected drinking water in the facility. I expected a lock with each room. Alternatively, the existing lockers chould have been bigger to keep a luggage. The curtain is not big enough to prortect the privacy.
The location of the hostel is close to the subway station and very good. The facility was clean. The staff are very friendly

CanadaIt was a bit of a ways out of the city centre, making it slightly cheaper. The walk to downtown proper was around 35-40 minutes which isn’t too bad if you don’t mind walking.
Everything was very clean and comfortable. I had all the amenities that I needed and the beds had a good amount of privacy. The shower was exceptionally clean which was wonderful. The staff was extremely friendly, always greeting me when I came in, and always happy to chat or help out. One of the best hostels I’ve stayed at. Also the subway stop was a minute walk away which was extra convenient.

AustriaGreat location just opposite the subway station, with some nice Cafés and restaurants nearby. If you go one subway station further (Namboku line station nr 3) there is an even bigger choice of good locals and restaurants. In the hostel, there's a great Café with delicious breakfasts, coffee and must-have cheese cake and carrot cake. The bedroom was basic, the beds were comfortable and very clean.

JapanThe bottom bed bunks are very low and because how it is built you have to crawl in and out of it. It isn't a big problem but people who are tall or have some mobility issues may find it difficult.
It was extremely close to the subway station and there many convenience stores closed by. It's not vary far from the city center so even a taxi is not too expensive. The bed bunks provide some privacy.

United StatesThe bed was pretty rigid, and the pillow was uncomfortable. It would be fine for someone that sleeps on their back, but I generally sleep on my side and had difficulty sleeping through the whole night because of the discomfort. I kind of wish there was a task light in the bed area, so that I could read in bed. The provided lighting was okay, but not quite bright enough for reading.
The location was great. It is right next to the subway, but if you don't mind walking, it's only a mile from Sapporo station/ shopping area. The price was excellent for the mixed dorm, and the staff was friendly. I also liked that the beds were in a little "pod" for added privacy. I had no issues with the showers either. Clean, good water pressure, and good temperature control.

PhilippinesIt’s a bit far from the main lively part of UENO but there’s a train station 5-7minutes away by foot where you can ride the train and go elsewhere
It is clean and affordable. Can leave luggage with locks.

SpainThe showers are quite small and there is only 4 shower rooms, which means sometimes you have to queue a little bit. My main issue with this hostel is that it seems to be the type where backpackers/travelers would stay and work for a few days and leave. The girl at reception was permanent staff I think, but the ones in charge of cleaning seemed to be people staying at the hostel. They were incredibly loud whilst cleaning and later as well in the common room, where they spent the rest of the day playing Mario Kart at full volume. Also one of them found it funny to play a VERY high pitched alarm at random times to confuse the Japanese staff and make them look everywhere for the source of the noise. It seems to me it the kind hostel where your experience is gonna depend a lot on who is the temp staff
Location is great. It is 2 stops away from Sapporo Station and only 3 stops away from Odori Park (which is great if you are there for the snow festival). There is a 7-eleven 5 minutes away and a drugstore right in front. Bed is on the harder side but still comfy. It is decently clean.

United StatesIt would have been nice if the building had an elevator because we had a lot of bags and our room was on the top floor.
I appreciated that the person who checked us in helped us up the stairs with our bags. The room was quiet and comfortable. The lounge is very pleasant and the hostel is in a great location.

United KingdomThe dorm floors are exposed concrete, which can be a little uncomfortable to walk on. However, it’s a very minor flaw!
Really close to Hokkaido University, and it has an excellent kitchen should you want to cook! Beds are comfortable and provide a lot of privacy!

GermanyI usually don't mind capsule-like beds, but I didn't like the style of this one. I also don't like when I have to do the bedding myself.
The shared space was quite comfortable and the hostel was very clean. The location was also convenient, because it's very close to the subway. It was also quite cheap considering that I've stayed during the snow festival time.
