How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewAmazing hotel. It had everything, and for such good value. A well-stocked kitchenette, a washing machine, a clothes freezer, 3 beds and there was only one of me. The staff were so friendly. The location was great, just around the corner from a metro station that is 11 minutes from the center of Sapporo. I changed my plans and only stayed 2 nights out of 4, but I kind of regretted changing my plans because I would have liked to stay here longer.

Verified reviewNew, clean, quiet. Comfortable size-benchmarked to the Japanese standards. 😊 Although the staff doesn’t speak much English, they use a translator and are very friendly. Staff are available at the reception from early morning until late night. A large Veon store is just around the corner.
Not close to the main JR lines. If you are taking public transport, there would be an issue.

Verified reviewEasy access to downtown with the subway ( to Odori). Easy access to Otaru from JR Kotoni. The restaurant In curry ( 9mn walk away) was fantastic. The neighborhood has many restaurants, shopping centres, groceries shops,…etc The big balcony to watch the sunset! The very efficient, smiley ladies at the front desk. The cleaning ladies did an excellent job. Clean! Clean. You can borrow some knives, iron, iron board and many more( hair curlers…).
With 3 beds in the room and no sofa. It felt a bit cramp.

Verified reviewLocation is great! It's near the train station and supermarket. JR Kotoni Station is a few blocks away but easy to access via bus. The room is hug especially for me (single traveller). There's elevator which is very convenient. 7-11 is just around the corner and a supermarket just 2 blocks away. Thank you!

Verified reviewLocation is convenient - This hotel is near to Kotoni subway station (<2mins walk) and <15 mins walk from JR kotoni station. Although kotoni area is not crowded like sapporo or susukino but still good location to stay. Staff is very nice and kind. Appliances were good and of high quality.
They can add a clock in the room and quality of tissue papers was not good. Also, cleaning is not done daily so they should provide vacuum cleaner.

Verified reviewSpacious, clean room with reliable internet and great in-room amenities that made the stay really comfortable.
The room was a bit dark, and there was a lingering seafood smell from the previous guest that hadn’t been aired out.

Verified reviewThe apartment were a bit far from the main JR or even subway station (kotoni) if there were some snow falling or rain without umbrella, you could get soak from walking to the stations. The room was great, enough space for 3 opening luggages and comfortable for 3 people to stay, even though the entrance of bathroom was a bit cramped as there was washing machine standing there. Unfortunately, they weren’t supply any knifes or scissors in the kitchen for us to use for cooking meats. Also the closet was a bit too cramped for 3 people using. We will still choose to stay here next time we visit Sapporo again though. Some staffs were willing to help with what we needed, especially the girl on the night shift on the second night we spent, even she doesn’t speak English but she was enthusiastic to communicate and she did helped us a lot).

Verified reviewThe room is fantastic for couples. It was spacious, warm, and quiet. The humidifier was great. The separation of the bath and WC is a nice layout. The kitchen has a full-sized fridge, microwave, and gas range so we could cook breakfast easily. There was a huge closet with a set of drawers. We could store our suitcases so they did not get in our way. It was easy to access the subway (3 minutes away) and the JR trains were only about a 10 minute walk away.
The wifi is unsecured, but that is pretty normal. Although there was a saucepan, frying pan, rice cooker, silverware, etc. there were no knives and the bowls were really small--definitely not designed for cereal/granola in the morning.

Verified reviewVery spacious, beautiful design, highly functional. We felt comfortable like at home. The clothes refresher was a welcoming addition and fun to use.
Towels were not that soft and the plastic sheet on the table felt very cheap - better to apply varnish to preserve the table than this. The beds were too hard - as usual in Japan.

Verified reviewGreat hardware and clean environment, friendly staff.
My reserved parking lot was taken twice, though the staff quick contact the car owner or provide alternative parking, the experience itself was not so pleasant.

Verified reviewA great price-quality ratio, a large room exactly like in pictures, a fully-equipped kitchen with wine glasses and other utensils, a comfortable bed (in my case it was two single beds put together), a walk-in wardrobe which is a nice element to it and the staff that went the extra mile to print out restaurant recommendations and a route to Teine ski resort when I asked. I came to Sapporo to ski so the location was key for me. To get to the Teine ski resort, you need to walk 15 min to Kotoni JR station and take a train for 20ish min to Teine station, then a bus (check the schedule in busy times!). A wonderful experience with the hotel that I would repeat without a doubt.
Everything was awesome!
