We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

It was a great clamping/outdoor style experience. I had a room which had high end features, very nicely decorated and great tech for communication and room service. It was very comfortable. The staff were all fantastic.

United StatesWe didn't realize that the BBQ is Japanese-style "grill your own". After a long day of cycling, we were pretty tired and the BBQ felt like quite a bit of work. The food was delicious, though! We had a few problems with our bikes, but the staff were quick to fix the problems.
WAKKA is well-positioned off of the Shimanami Kaido cycling route. We started in Imabari, ending in Onomichi, which is "backward" from a lot of the recommended routes. However, this worked out great for us. Wakka was a nice place to relax after a long day of cycling. The tent was very comfortable and the AC worked well during the hot summer weather. The shared bathroom and showers were well-appointed and clean. The laundry service also worked well. All of the staff members were very friendly, and they were easy to keep in touch with via WhatsApp during the trip. The BBQ and breakfast were very good.

AustraliaWe did make a room order service on the included room's tablet that they missed in the kitchen but didn't worry us to much as we were already quite full from dinner. And they were very apologetic and gifted some merchandise on checkout to make it up.
Great option for staying halfway on The Shimanami Kaido. A little pricier than I would have expected by the price is backed up by good facilitates and rooms (with lovely view out to the bridge), along with a lovely on site cafe/restaurant/bar. While options were limited for a stop on the Shimanami Kaido as it was my wife and my wedding anniversary we wanted a nicer place and WAKKA definitely delivered.

We stayed in one of their tents. The decor was lovely and the bed comfy. The food for a bbq was brought to our tent, the bbq lit and then we cooked it ourselves. Very nice choice of foods to cook and a great setting. Breakfast was good too.

United KingdomThe cafe is only open until 4pm and it would have been nice to have dinner there after a hard days cycle. It’s closed on a Tuesday when all other local eateries are closed too. But they served snacking breakfasts
Gorgeous views and fabulous breakfasts.

Staff went out of the way to help us, we had booked bicycles but the first day was rainy so they were flexible and patient as we replanned. Cabins were unique and we had an amazing view of the water and bridge, The breakfast was healthy and plentiful. We also got complimentary passes to the local onsen which was a delight and free shuttle to take us to dinner. It was a lovely and memorable stay.

CanadaHonestly, we couldn't think of a single thing to make our stay there better. From the planning to the execution, WAKKA is an absolutely excellent hotel.
After cycling the Shimanami Kaido, WAKKA was the best oasis we could have asked for. Delightful staff, a welcoming refreshing beverage, a quick tour of the property, and then installed in our exquisite accommodations. Two of our group had the most well-appointed tent we've ever slept in, the ultimate in glamping, with ample space, beautiful amenities, and such comfy beds. The other two had a cabin, which WAKKA had thoughtfully given us right beside the tent. Each had a private deck with an unobstructed view of the water. So beautiful. The cabin has its own sink, toilet and shower, the tent uses ones a short stroll away, so if a private bathroom is important to you, pick the cabin, but either location will leave you delighted. They even provide loungewear! While it doesn't have its own onsen or sento, there is a community centre a 10-minute walk along the road that WAKKA will drive you to and pay for your admission! A much-needed soak after a day on the bike, and the walk home afterwards was quick and refreshing. As if that wasn't enough, the food! Absolutely delicious. Fresh, perfectly cooked, wonderful flavours. They'll even happily deliver it to your room on a tray so you can enjoy it on that private deck. We chose to sit in the outdoor lounge on the comfortable sofas and enjoy the view and the ambience. Our breakfast was included, and it was equally scrumptious, plentiful, and filling. WAKKA is also a rest stop for day bikers wanting a break and a bike-friendly cafe, so even if you don't stay overnight, it's a perfect lunch spot to rest and admire that gorgeous view. The service was outstanding! The staff are some of the friendliest we've ever met, and additionally knowledgeable about cycling in particular - bike maintenance, routes, etc. Overall, the design of the place is unbelievably beautiful, and every aspect of our stay was perfect. It was absolutely a highlight of our trip, and we only wished we could have stayed there longer.

SpainI know we were in a glamping resort but the distance form our tent to the toilets was a little uncomfortable at night. But we knew this before we booked. So no real worries.
Without doubt the most helpful staff that we came across in our month tour of Japan. Very good English, far superior to anything we encountered in other hotels and apartments where we stayed elsewhere. Friendly, informative. Thank you so much for all your help. Also our tented accommodation far exceeded our expectations and put many apartments we have stayed in to shame.

United StatesTo preface, our group of 4 isn't a one that requires a "Four Seasons" facility. The place is spartan, but very clean. The location is next to an empty gravel covered lot, There isn't a heavily manicured landscape. It's location is set within the context of a small island neighborhood. If your looking for a place with a pool, spa, fully equipped exercise room this is not the place for you. If you enjoy the outdoors and interfacing with a small community of people directly invested in their own business this IS the place for you.
Food exceeded expectations. Outdoor patio where we at was super comfortable with great views. It rained just a bit, but the patio was still dry. The food was fresh, a lot of it grown locally I believe. There was even locally brewed beer. We rented the trailers, (both - we had 4 people). If you have a party of 4, it's well worth it to get the trailers as you get your own huge patio. We went fishing, coordinated out of the hotel - that was great too. The inland sea is very calm so no worries about getting sea sick. We caught lots of fish which was used by the facility and shared with neighboring businesses. The chef prepared a platter of the fish we caught for both grilling on our patio and sashimi. We ordered the BBQ meal as well beforehand so with the BBQ meal that they prepared and the fish we were stuffed. The BBQ meal they prepare for you, (you grill it on your own patio) is super. They store it in your refrigerator so after your bike ride, hike or fishing trip, the meal is there ready for you to grill. The bike rental was super convenient. We just rode around the island. You can easily ride around the island in a day. We opted to take it easy. We ended up eating lunch at one of the small restaurant/ Bar, (Umimachi Baru Ameri I believe is the name). It's off highway 51. 2559 Omishimacho Omi, Imabari. Food and atmosphere were great. It's hard to imagine this place - it's so isolated. You would never figure a place like this here. You can take a shuttle, (WAKKA provides) from the hotel to this restaurant. I think it's a 20 min drive or so. WAKKA provides shuttles to neighboring restaurants. There are a few that are walkable. Traffic is light so riding bikes around the island is pretty safe, even though the roads are narrow. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful.

United StatesNothing. Exceeded my expectations.
I was expecting a reasonably nice bicycle friendly motel-like stay but Wakka was so much better! Our group of 7 stay in the geodesic tent, cottage, and residence. The tent was very comfortable with two real beds and air conditioning (all these rooms have AC), and a small private patio. The tent residence use the common bathroom. The Japanese-style cottage cottage easily slept 3, has a bathroom with shower and beautiful views of the bay and bridge. The residence was incredible, having two queen beds, a kitchen and full bath. It also has stunning views of the water. Dinner was also way better than I expected. They served meats and veggies to grill (with vegetarian options), salad, any array of drinks, and desert. Overall this one day stop on our bike tour was probably the best place we’ve stayed in Japan!
