Homely with friendly staff. Ken-san did a great job of making me feel welcome with some delicious lemon tea and talk about the Blue Hearts. A stones throw away from the water.

Some toilets and the kitchen missing hand soap. Common areas like toilet, shower and kitchen could have been cleaner, shower curtain was mouldy, sinks had residue from multiple days prior. Building smelt a bit old and musty.

Female dorm exceptionally clean! Staff very friendly and were helpful when I checked in extremely late at night. Bed and linen comfortable.

- Extra money for laundry and towel hire, hard to find the host to rent these off after checking in. - Really retro room, cold without the heater on - No lockers - Looks unsafe and down a dark alleyway, not easy to find on google maps - Not the cleanest, definitely feels like a hostel unlike some modern hostels - No dryer

- 24 minute walk from Onomichi Ferry Port Cycling Terminal (where I went to hire a bike at 7am) - 10 minutes to nearest supermarket - 10 minutes to food options - Comfy futon - Cheap and no hidden booking fees - Host has lots of flyers and leaflets about bicycle hire, nearby food, nearby amenities and speaks enough English to get by with western visitors like me (who don't speak enough japanese)

No lockers, didn't feel safe especially as there were no locks on front door or dorm door. Anyone could walk in. Kitchen was quite dirty. Only one shower and toilet. Lots of rules and threats to fine you if you dont follownthem eg recycling, made me worried in case i made a mistake (still getting used to how to sort recycling in japan). Had to hang clothes to dry which would be difficult if more than one person did laundry a day. Very thin mattresses, still aching.

Cosy beds in dorms, felt private. Not many people most nights. Close to convenience stores.

The room was quite small and the bathroom was very old and cold because the window had to be opened all the time. The light in the bathroom was flickering constantly.

Warm friendly staff. Beds and privacy partitions were made out of natural pine wood. So pine tree fragrance was very nice.

Owner and operator staff are kind people. Female staff was warm and a genuinely friendly person. This guesthouse is especially perfect if you went out drinking nearby. You can either walk or take a bus with only 2 stops from the Onomichi train station.

Kitchen was dirty - I opened a drawer and found an in-use ashtray. Wouldn’t cook in there. One shower for lots of people and no sink to brush teeth. Toilet was dirty. Expensive for what it was. Very hard to find, no English signage.

I had a room for myself in 3rd floor, but there was large noise from one other guest in other room on the same floor. He was talking until midnight and then he very loudly snored and talked from sleeping until 3 am or later. I couldn't sleep although I used earbuds. Also, the hotel is quite far, appx 2 km from the train station.
