The room we stayed in prioritized form over function. The minimal design was beautiful, but there were no chairs or tables to enjoy a beverage. The one piece of furniture available was more of an art object with little focus on practicality or comfort. I think that the beautiful minimal design could be achieved while still providing a comfortable piece of furniture, table, and chairs for the guest room.

Much has been very well renovated and kept the building’s charm beautifully. The Onsen still has its 1970s charm, which didn’t bother me but might be noted by some guests when so much else is relatively recently refreshed.

Excellent space in the well designed room. Stunning views. The rooftop bar is a delight in the evening. Loved the views, was sorry to leave.

This was our first time visiting Onomichi, and this hotel gave us unforgettable memories, especially with its breathtaking view. All of the staff were warm and welcoming. There’s also a bar where you can enjoy the beautiful view of Onomichi while savoring delicious ramen, served free of charge.

Overall, the hotel is great, the best view from the rooftop bar that you must visit. Very good renovated room, but the fridge is a little bit noisy. Thanks to the hotel managers offering good arrangement of the breakfast for my stay!

We loved our stay. The hotel has recently been done up and is beautifully renovated. The views are amazing and the rooftop bar and onsen are lovely. Staff are amazing. We had a car which made it very convenient as it’s up on the hill but only a short taxi ride.

The only downside to the great views is being at the top of a very steep hill. We didn’t mind, but would put some people off. The bathrooms in the rooms are very small, again it didn’t bother us because we mainly used the onsen but might affect others.

Lovely hotel, comfortable rooms, great views. The breakfast was very nice Japanese style brekky, and they have a vegetarian menu. The onsen is very nice, and also had great views of the city. All of the staff were amazing, really friendly and helpful. In particular, Junki really helped us out - thank you!

Travelling without a car made the trip up the hill a little challenging when going into town. But the view would not be as good in that case.

I was pleasantly surprised. This resort/hotel is lovely. Everything is well presented and very comfortable. I had a drink and snack at the rooftop bar at sunset. The view is amazing! The communal bath was well appointed as well as the room.

Very thin walls in the rooms, a lot of noise throughout the night due to upstairs guests and hallways, which is a shame for such a nice hotel.

Exceptional view and living space from the suite room. Staff were attentive and courteous, they will always try their best to help. Dinner and breakfast were also outstanding. Location is great for walking the Onomichi temple path, be aware it is a high ascent and descent going into the main strip.

This place was an exceptional stay. It exceeded all of our expectations, from the incredible staff, the very nice amenities, the high quality meals, the beautifully decorated rooms, the spacious Onsen with hilltop view, the rooftop bar that you could relax on all night, and the breathtaking views. I would recommend this place to anyone staying in Onomichi. It is less than a ten-minute walk to Senkoji Temple. To get to the bottom of the hill where the Onomichi train station is takes around 15 minutes or so, and it is a magical walk up and down this hill, especially at night.

The property is up on a hill which for eager Shimanami Kaido goers may be a little out the way but we managed fine it’s so so worth a taxi or 15 minute walk for the view you get.

The staff, service, view, amenities, cleanliness was all outstanding. Booking the hotel with the pictures I saw and the few reviews it had, felt like a shot in the dark but from the second we got out the taxi we were blown away. Highly recommend, if your on the fence, just book it.
