Great location, really nice and helpful staff. Vegetarian food. Detached bathroom was no issue just down the stairs.

If you are staying upstairs the bathrooms are all downstairs.

Authentic ryokan experience with excellent vegetarian breakfast (shojin ryori buddhist cuisine). We also had the tour in the temple and watched the morning ceremony, I would highly recommend it.

    Everything was great.

thank you for the patient and helpful staff. lovely and smooth bath and shower systems too. I wish I had more time there. Get to see monks and other events around the living hall which intrigues me and my respect. I felt safe and calm there.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and the facility gave a pleasant ryokan feel. The timed bath time was great and the tub was huge. Breakfast was very good.

The rooms could use a lamp for better lighting.

We appreciated the traditional charm of the Ryokan, but sleeping on a hard floor wasn’t as comfortable as we had hoped. The amenities felt outdated and in need of maintenance, though the overall experience remained authentic. On the bright side, the staff were warm, friendly, and always willing to help.

Location was ideal for visiting Zenkoji temple. I had to leave before breakfast.

Air conditioner was very noisy but room was warm enough without it on.

Beautiful and carefully maintained historical building. Great breakfast in the morning. Walk to Zenkoji. There are nice local restaurants nearby for dinner as well. Manager is very helpful and efficient! Parking is cheap and it's 5 mins walk (No 4 Parking Ground)

A little cold walking around, bring thick socks. The bath (onsen) is on a timed slots system, make sure you write down your preferred use time on the board provided. The men's bathroom is not stinky, but it kinda smells funny.

Ryokan is located just next to the temple in Nagano which is totally worth visit. It was a good place for us to stay and do trips to discover the region better. The staff is very sweet (though barely speak English.) we also enjoyed the onsen.

The location on the map provided is not fully correct and we accidently visit the neighbor before finding the right place. During the check-in we learned that Ryokan closes at 21:00 and after that time we can’t come in which was a bit problematic for us as we had dinner booked outside. Also the breakfast was a bit disappointing although we had amazing food experiences in Japan so maybe our expectations now are too high.

Wonderful location, traditional Japanese style of stay. Breakfast and dinner were included with extra pay for a selection of alcohol. I was very well fed, too full in fact. Very delicious food. Staff was so friendly and helpful. Arranged morning ceremony was a bonus. 9pm curfew was good, I had great sleep.

    Not so much

Great breakfast and portions fine, lovely staff.

Only 1 shower, wasn’t an issue but for bigger groups may be.
