We were pleasantly surprised to find hot water and tea ready for us, along with a delightful Japanese treat, upon our arrival on both days of our stay. This thoughtful touch made us feel immediately welcomed. Despite the language barrier, the staff was incredibly accommodating and went above and beyond to ensure all of our needs were met. We felt well taken care of throughout our stay and truly appreciated the excellent service.

Absolutely gorgeous. I love the garden, even in its winter state, and the outdoor bath and sauna was just amazing with the flurries of snow around. The staff were amazing, and the driver took us to the aquarium and back on our last morning before we took the train back to Aomori. The history is very special, and the food was also spectacular - it was so lovely to experience this Japanese cooking.

We ended up walking from the station to Yanagi no Yu with our luggage, but in a happy accident, we happened to come across the Keika brewery on our way. Excellent beer. We wouldn’t have known if we hadn’t walked.

The food was very authentic and the staff were most helpful. This is quite and experience and definitely something one should do when visiting Japan. Something incredible happened to me - I forgot my earrings behind and with the help of the police in the next town I visited, they contacted the owner who kindly posted my earrings to me at my next stop ... free of charge!! Unbelievable service and so honest and kind.

The food, although authentic and extremely well presented and much of it, isn't what Westerners are used to. It's not that I didn't like it, but it was different and wouldn't be to everyone's taste. If you aren't adventurous with food you may want to bring along a snack ;).

The best old style Onsen stay you can buy in this value!!!!! For NZD220, dinner and breakfast. Good tradition Onsen, the lady manager services is surprisingly good, and attentive although she may be in her 70s, The age, the tradition, the service. The cleanest. The family feelings.

Nothing - It is aged, the hotel and the staff, but the aged services is the best, like whisky may be I am in my 40s, it reminds me the happiest days in 90s.

Extremely hospitable staff, even with little Japanese, it was a very pleasant experience. The food is the best I've tasted all my life.

The traditional feel of the onsen and a room overlooking the garden. Clean comfortable room and a nice outdoor onsen. A quick walk to the station. Tasty ryokan dinner.

Beautiful grounds and building. Staying here was an immersive experience. It is close to the station, and we visited the Aquarium nearby after our stay. The staff were very gracious even with a language barrier.

The Inn isn’t non-smoking. Our room and other places in the Inn smelled like 2nd-hand smoke. Our pillows were also very hard, we kept waking up because our ears hurt. But otherwise an amazing stay.
