Not a criticism as the baths are fed by the springs, but the indoor ones were just too hot!

Just wow, beautiful location, amazing food, the staff were lovely. Not sure you could find anything more traditional. A really awe inspiring experience. The onsen was soo beautiful. A shame that the men get the most time in the Momoyama section as it is jaw droppingly beautiful and would be so cool to watch the day break from there. Great that you can take photos in the morning before you depart. So atmospheric at night. Not touristy at all and full of locals. Scrub up on your Japanese before you go!

Had a great time here. Very friendly staff and great services. The room was tidy and even bigger than expected. Dinner and breakfast were very elaborate and delicious (even though we weren't familiar with a lot of the dishes). Would recommend for sure!

Honestly, everything was great. The only small thing I could mention is that it would’ve been nice to have a washer and dryer available for dirty clothes, especially during a longer stay. But that’s just a minor detail in an otherwise fantastic experience.

The food was absolutely incredible—both breakfast and dinner were highlights of the stay. Each meal was beautifully presented and full of fresh, local ingredients. Breakfast offered a perfect start to the day with a balanced mix of traditional Japanese dishes and familiar comforts. Dinner was even more impressive—thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor, with something new to enjoy each night. You could really tell everything was made with care. It was like dining at a high-end restaurant without ever leaving the property!

Beautiful outdoor bath! We also love the half board meals that were included. Delicious and beautiful traditional Kaiseki style food. Very polite & helpful staff members. They helped us with our luggage and the shuttle service was nice. We enjoyed staying in a nice Japanese style room. I’m recommending this place to all my friends. We will definitely come back again!

The onsens were absolutely incredible – this hotel was the highlight of our trip to Japan. Easy access to the train station and Snow Monkey Park. Beautiful facilities and warm and friendly staff. The dinner and breakfast had great vegetarian options, and service was brilliant. High quality yukatas and tabi socks to chill out in when enjoying complimentary tea in the lounge. Overall fantastic experience.

The vegetarian option included a lot of mushrooms. For us that was no problem. However, keep that in mind, I also think that you could have indicated that and they would accomodate you.

We enjoyed our full stay! It was our first Ryokan experience and let's say we did not know what to expect. The staffs dedication was incredible. They were aiming to make the stay perfect. They also provided vegetarian options for my partner for the keiseki dinners. We highly recommcend staying there. Also the surrounding is beautiful and very quite. And let's not forget the onsen.

The front view did not look promising! No sign in English so wasn’t sure we were in the right place.

The authenticity and commitment from all staff to give the best possible Japanese experience to us was incredible. Slept on futons. The onsen(s) were outstanding and the complete lack of reaction from staff when a category 5 earthquake interrupted dinner was impressive. The staff bent over backwards to help us with forwarding luggage (when the deadline had gone.

A wonderful ryokan experience at a well-established property. Staff were warm and accommodating. The onsen is amazing, though women can enjoy the better of the two bathhouses for the prime hours of the day. Meals were amazing. Yukata are provided for use during your stay. Wear them all around the property (to bathe, to dinner). It is part of the enjoyment.
