Maybe there could be a bit more explanation about the food, what it is, and how best to eat it etc. (Food is delicious though).

The onsens are lovely. The dinner and breakfast at the residence are excellent, in a private dining room. The room was spacious. It's a close drive to the snow monkeys. Quiet residence.

Maybe the bathroom could've used a toilet brush.

The staff, an adorable family, really go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. With fresh sheets, towels and yukata supplied during your day outing, absolutely delicious breakfast and eternal and sincere smiles, these people have won our hearts, despite the language barrier. The outside onsen is absolutely amazing, especially after dark. The room is spacious, traditional and has two separate seating areas.

Nothing, except i can imagine some people will find the traditional futons a bit uncomfortable to sleep in (I think you can always ask for an extra layer as mentioned in earlier reviews)

Fantastic stay in Yudanaka Seifuso. When we arrived the owner brought us to the snow monkey park. Dinner and breakfast were amazing. As a vegetarian I could fill in a form what my dietary restrictions are (such as no fish broth, no bonito etc.) It is located near the train station. The onsen are great ( both private and public)

Amazing staff, love super friendly. Got to use the private onsen. Drove us to the monkey park which was amazing. Beautiful traditional room, with amazing traditional breakfast. Probably one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in .

Breakfast or evening meal only available by prior arrangement and significantly more expensive than in hotels elsewhere in Japan, though breakfast was very nicely served in a private room.

We were looking for a traditional Japanese onsen and were not disappointed. Private onsen available - lovely and hot - 46 degrees! Lovely clean room with tatami floors and futons. Located about 2 minutes walk from rail station. Perfect location for 20 minute bus ride to Jigokudani monkey sanctuary.

The area is very quiet, maybe more so than I was prepared for. But it was a lovely visit and whilst I would not come back, as I feel this is somewhere to only visit once, i very much enjoyed my time in yudanaka and would recommend this ryokan to everyone visiting!

One of the best stays in Japan. The facility is lovely and the rooms are also beautiful. I felt really well taken care of and the staff were so lovely!

Only 1 of the onsens was great. Women can only use it between 7-10pm.

It was alright, however I think it is too expensive for what you get. We had dinner and breakfast and they were good. Also the owner drove us to the monkey park with his car.

Beautiful property! Easy to get around and so homely. Bedroom was kept warm and the shutters really kept the cold out! The bedroom was beautiful designed and had all that we needed. The Onsen were so good and we tried all 3 of them! The staff were so accommodating and super friendly!

No shower in the room (shower in the onsen only) and no elevator so have to go up the stairs (room on 2nd floor)

The onsen was magical and is tattoo friendly. Very short walk to train station and the restaurants in town.

    Nothing. Everything was wonderful.

Comfortable and warm room in the winter with private toilet, mini fridge, tv, safe, table, and futon beds. Wonderful onsens. Two public onsen with rotating times for men and women and one private onsen that is available on a first come first serve basis. The outdoor onsen was perfect and very beautiful and the private onsen was nice for when you want some alone soaking time. Hosts were friendly and provided a welcome snack and tea then an apple upon departure. Very kind!

An adorable ryokan with kind staff. Location was convenient with a Lawson nearby and within a few minutes walk from the station. There were multiple onsens, one of which was outside. An incredible experience to sit in a steamy onsen while snow was falling.

We requested a late check in, and due to our poor planning, ended up checking in hours late. The owner stayed up and waited for us, and was amazingly pleasant and responsive over messages.
