The cleanliness wasn't exactly optimal, which is strange for Japan. There was no drinking water or lotion in the onsen, which is a shame.

The onsen was really beautiful and large, the Japanese-style rooms were very fun. The atmosphere was lovely, in Japanese style. The location is excellent, very close to the station, in the heart of the village.

Onsen were a bit dirty, something was in the water, I don’t really know what it was. Maybe some water or vending machine in the onsen could be nice!

The room was big, Onsen was not crowded, reception people were really nice!!

The breakfast package was quite small and only included two pieces of bread and a sweet waffle, which felt a bit insufficient. Another downside was that the heater in the bathroom was not working, so we had to heat the entire room and leave all the doors open to keep the bathroom warm.

We had a pleasant stay for two nights. The hotel is in a very central location, making it easy to explore the area. One of the highlights was the amazing spa and onsen area, which the hotel is well known for. The room was very spacious, providing plenty of comfort. I also appreciated the great public working space, which was convenient for getting some work done. Additionally, there is a restaurant in the same building, which made dining very convenient. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Sweet, older style hotel. Accessiblity an issue due to ice.

The worst issue is that the property makes no effort to maintain the pathways into the building, so from both entrances you have to walk across extremely slipperly, icy carparks. I fell over twice in first 2 days and ended up having to purchase crampons solely to get in and out of the hotel safely. Defintely not recommended for older people or anyone with mobility issues. Breakfast was pretty poor; just a few bread rolls and some coffee and juice. No shower curtain meaning the entire bathroom got soaked when anyone showered. Our room was not serviced during our 5 night stay.

Traditional tatami rooms. Floor mattresses were firm but actually pretty comfortable. Our family room was very spacious for 3 people but would have been tight at maximum occupancy. Coffee table + seating area was nice for hanging out. Onsite onsen was a delight to warm up after a day on the slopes and is small-tattoo-friendly (they're not comfortable with full sleeves, etc but were ok with ours which are roughly 10cms). Staff have varying levels of english but very friendly and try their hardest to assist (the Indian guy in the mornings has the best english if you need it).

The breakfast option was not good. If you want to catch the skibus at 7.45 am, the breakfast breadroll handout starts at 7.30. The skibus up to Shiga kogen costs 900yen one way, only from Sun Valley is the bus free of charge.

The room was very spacious, with a fridge and kettle, which gives you the opportunity to have breakfast in the room ( a Lawson market is near to the place). Sauna and Onsen were great.

They changed the futons to the foam egg cartoon from a traditional futon and no extra ones for extra cushion. We like the traditional one doubled up. But will still stay there if we ever make it back there.

We stay here every time we visit the monkeys. We like the location , the onsens , the rooms , the staff

Hotel quite run down, reception area nice enough but rooms very old and tired. Very limited furniture in rooms.

Friendly staff, great location. Was our first experience using an onsen & it was a pleasant one. Hotel clean & tidy and futons were more comfortable than expected.

The water in the bathhouse in the ryokan could have been a bit cleaner, but overall it was a very good experience nonetheless.

The room was more spacious than we thought it would be. The futons were very comfortable and the thick blankets kept us very warm at night. The location was very ideal- there were many onsens just in the area and many places to eat at.

Prefer a normal shower instead of a shower bath, difficult for an older person to get in and out of.

The room was lovely, the futons were really comfy and I just loved the onsen, it was beautiful!! The Japanese lady at the service desk went above and beyond to accommodate us, she was fantastic!!

The onsen facilities were nice, but only one of the baths was very hot. Luckily, it was the biggest of the baths so it was spacious and not crowded. The bathroom could have been more thoroughly cleaned as there was some hair in the drain, but otherwise it was fine.

It's a bit of an older building, but the room was large. The staff was great! They were very welcoming and helpful, and the onsen was enjoyable. We drove to the hotel, and there was free parking which was nice. Overall this was an enjoyable experience.

the room was quite big and had its own bathroom. It a 5 min walk from the station and the izakaya was super good and not expensive big Onsen with sauna
