In the evening, we, an adult and two children, weighing about 90 kilograms in total, were sitting on the sofa in the living room watching TV. Suddenly, the sofa broke and the children started crying. We saw that there was a nail repaired at the broken part of the chair, so we guessed that this was not the first time the chair broke. We immediately called the counter to request for help, but the staff in the evening said that no one could handle it and would hand it over to the staff the next day. As a result, no one took the initiative to care and handle it the next day. We went to the counter to report it in the morning, and the staff said that they did not receive the handover from the staff last night, and when we reported it to the staff in the morning, they did not do anything. We were surprised at how the chair broke, but there was no apology or concern for any injuries. She was still busy with her computer and seemed to ignore us. She only approached a Taiwanese employee in the middle to translate. We asked to move the broken chair out of the room, but she said there was nowhere to move it and at best they could simply cover the sharp parts. However, we were afraid that the child would accidentally sit on the chair and get hurt, so we still wanted the broken chair to be removed from the room. The counter staff did not agree, so we asked if we could ask the supervisor and we went to have breakfast first. After a while, the Taiwanese staff said that the broken chair could be moved out of the room.

The food (breakfast and dinner) was exceptional. The multi-course dinner was a highlight, and possibly the best meal we had in Japan.

A little isolated, a car is essential

Cozy living area. It well presents the transitional Japanese home but also comfortably provides two kinds of sleeping (beds or tatami) to accommodate people with different needs. The dinner is super delicious and feels like we are enjoying it in a Michelin stared restaurant.

Location. Size of the rooms. Friendly staff.

The property is quite old and has not been maintained to the standards it should have.

Too many things we like: The villa concept, the beautiful landscaping, the breakfast spread, the dinner spread, the yukata, the hot bath both indoor and outdoor, the proximity to nature, the attentive staff ……..

The room is big, dinner and breakfast exceed our expectations. Highly recommend this hotel. However when you book with Booking.com, if you have any complaint to them or to the hotel, they will tell you it is a partner offer and no survey can be done and they can’t do anything, they will give you the hotel’s number and tell you to contact the hotel directly, this is my experience when booking Yufuin Waremokou thru Booking.com. So be aware because you never know if it is a partner offer.

The breakfast was amazing and so were the service and cleanliness. You really get your money worth with this place. The staff were all so kind, polite, and helpful. I would recommend this place to all my friends and family in a heartbeat.

An absolutely beautiful ryokan! You get your very own house, outfitted with 2 bathes (one indoor and one outdoor), a changing room, and spacious living room and bedrooms! The mini-fridge also came with complimentary soft drinks and alcohol! The staff were also extremely welcoming, and the half-board meals (which had free-flow drinks/alcohol) were aesthetically beautiful and delicious at the same time! They also offered alternative meals for my family members that had restrictive diets, which I think is really sweet! The ryokan is located a little far from the main street, so driving here is recommended as they offer free parking for guests (first-come-first-service). Being away from the main street and the tourist foot-traffic also makes this ryokan a very peaceful place to stroll about, with a quaint pastry shop and carpentry shop near its vicinity :) Although they do not have coin laundries, there is a coin laundry outlet just behind the ryokan! And it is also a 8~10 minutes walk to Kinrin Lake!

    Nothing!
