Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NetherlandsA big traditional Japanese hotel, where mostly Japanese families, elderly and young people enjoy the food and visit the onsen. We felt very welcome and the staff was most helpful. The dinner and breakfast was buffet style and there was an amazing choice of food. Like in so many of these hotels, the interior and furnishings are a little dated. But this did not spoil our stay. Another great experience in Japan.

United StatesStaff did not respond to any messages on booking app; At the price that we paid, there’s no excuse. The main reason we stayed in this Ryokan was to view the night stars but when we arrived and asked about it, there were not many options provided to partake in this activity. It was very disappointing. The public areas need an update.
The location is outstanding. It has wonderful views and it is stunning during sunrise. Even during bad weather the misty mountains are magical. There is a private bath that people with tattoos can use. The breakfast was pretty good.

Japan- There were few stink bugs (very common for accomodations in the countryside ) - The foot baths were very lukewarm - No night light in the room so have to use the torch provided
- The staff are very kind and accommodating - The accommodation picked us and even arranged a drop off car, after checking out, to our intended location - My partner had a stomachache and the staff even provided some medicine, free of charge - If you're coming for stargazing (Heavens Sonohara), they have a paid pickup and drop off bus ( 1000 yen per person ) and the accommodation can arrange tickets for you as well [ Though buying online directly from the stargazing website is slightly cheaper ] - The room was spacious - The outdoor bath was decent, nothing special

SingaporeThe walls or floor seem a little thin as I could hear footsteps going across the ceiling!
Room was spacious. I loved the onsen as they had different baths for you to try such as the deeper pool so you can stand (120cm), the cypress wood tub or the outside pool open to the sky. There is also a foot bath with multiple pools. If stars are what you came for and do not wish to go on the star night tour, there is an observatory on site, although I don’t know if it’s open for a few. The breakfast buffet was an excellent spread of western and Japanese dishes.

AustraliaIt is indeed one of the Onsen Ryokan areas that is a little more out of the way to get to. There is, however, a limited direct bus providing decent views towards the end of the journey taking about two hours from Nagano Bus Center. If one wants to explore the Achi region then its a nice stay, otherwise the experience was not neccessarily worth going out of the way for.
A very lovely traditional ryokan with very warm and helpful staff. Inaka predominately caters to Japanese tourist so while there are a few english signs and pamphlets around, other than very simple English words one may struggle to communicate with staff in detail. Breakfast is buffet style and dinner is prepared as a kiseki, both require prebooking. As it was off-season (plus post pandemic) during my visit a lot of local eateries around were also closed. Luckily there is a Family mart about a 10minute walk away in this small town where one can get some food and snacks to eat. The onsen was lovely and included both indoor and outdoor. One can also make bookings for a star gazing tour which is a feature of Achi which boasts spectacular night views given its location away from light pollution. There is also a small morning market selling food and other trinkets, best arrive early before 7:30am as things do sell out quick, especially the yummu locally made food.
