My friend and I really enjoyed our time here. It’s an incredibly cute guesthouse with a great vibe. The shared kitchen is well-equipped with plenty of utensils to use and enough space to enjoy a cozy meal. There’s even a kotatsu! We also messaged them after booking to ask whether the room was mixed or female-only, as we were a bit concerned. We received a very quick response reassuring us that there was no need to worry and that a female-only room would be prepared for us. The owner is super friendly, and her positive energy is contagious. :) Since it’s located in an onsen town, there are plenty of opportunities to relax after a day of exploring. This is a family-owned hostel, it's very traditional-Japanese style. The staff was all friendly and helpful, and the place was clean and tidy. The Kitchen was amazing, pretty much got everything you need.

Absolutely loved this place. Located quite close to various onsen and with tons of food places to go too. The host was fantastic, she was lovely, attentive and extremely friendly. Best service I've had in Japan! Only regret is that I didn't stay more nights.

Only one shower room, so if travel in bigger group, or full occupancy, then might be a problem. Staircase to 2nd floor also very steep (which is rather normal for Japan 😅) May not that suitable for weaker legs travelers 😜

The Owner, Ms Norito is extremely friendly, helpful and cheerful. Although she doesn’t understand / speak much English, she will use phone translator to do as much as she can to communicate. Although the property is not so big with limited room, and location might not near to any main tourist spots, it’s good for travelers travel in small group that want to explore different kind of holiday experience. It’s recommended to self-drive if choosing this location for accommodation. One think good about this location is there are plenty of choices for restaurant and Onsen (for those interested) within walking distance.

Very bohemian environment. Relaxed and friendly. The Chikuma area is very interesting. An older onsen town with lots of nostalgia. The GH is clean and comfortable. The owner was very friendly.

The owner was very friendly. The best thing about our trip was the house where we stayed. Budget friendly home with great facilities. We checked in late at night,but still the owner's son was awake and he was giving instructions in a kind manner.

Tatami rooms aren't for everyone. Some people love the idea - but if you're used to western beds, you may find it uncomfortable for more than 1 - 2 nights. There was also no private bathroom, but we knew that going in. Honestly for the price, it is well worth the sacrifices to have somewhere so lovely to stay.

Lovely hosts, very friendly - spoke great English. We were in futon in a tatami room, it was cozy but we loved it. The hosts are kind of local celebrities and everyone knows them, so it was a lot of fun staying there. The hosts provided a space heater and there was a room heater as well, so we were well taken care of. The property is very clean as well.
