They were not co operative about late check out

Very nice and comfortable Japanese-style room, well equipped. Great location close to the old city area and several temples, with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. That said, Kyoto is a large city, so you’ll still spend quite a bit of time on transport if you want to visit the main attractions — renting a bicycle might be a good option. The Japanese breakfast was quite good although small quantities, and the staff were welcoming.

The room and private onsen were clean, comfortable, and a delight to use. I didn't want to leave the room! Staff were kind and especially kind to our kiddo. Location was exceptional for exploring on foot. Breakfast was delicious and a real highlight.

We loved everything about this place, staff was super friendly, accomadating and english speaking so perfect for us to communicate. Very clean

Maybe that there were no laundry services but it was no problem as there are plenty locally.

Our experience at Gion Oyado Kikutani was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! Thanks to the superb staff (shout out to Singh our buddy). The place was amazing, cozy, heartwarming. We loved the traditionnal breakfast and the location was prime. We even had our personnal ozen! We can’t praise enought this place, it is a gem at the heart of Gion

The location in Gion was great- we liked the Japanese breakfast, the clean and quiet rooms and the friendly, helpful staff.

The ryokan is very well located, close to the bus stop and to Gion district. The room was very confortable and the staff was very kind.

Breakfast: they served a Japanese typical breakfast (fish, vegetables etc.), but the problem is that no other option was offered. There was no chioce …

I wish I could rate it higher than 10, we loved our stay here. The rooms are very spacious, extremely comfortable, and very clean. The location couldn't be any better, right in the heart of Gion. The Japanese breakfast was also good and delicious.

This hotel is in the center of Gion, very convenient place and center of geisha. Walking distance to many attractions. The room is very elegant. The breakfast was quite nice, traditional Japanese food. The name of the room is like a poem. There are also plants outside of the windows. Would go back if I visit Kyoto again.

Everything about this place was amazing. The staff were some of the kindest people- they made several adjustments to my dietary restrictions (vegan) and served us delicious traditional japanese dishes for breakfast (included in our stay), and they consistently were a delight to return home to each evening with smiles and warmth. The rooms are spacious and beautiful, the hinoki tub was a highlight for me. The location is also perfect and in the heart of one of the most beautiful and popular places in Kyoto!! I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

It’s a very quiet and cute place in Gion. Taka and his staff are so friendly and accommodating. They can also speak English very well. Breakfast was delicious. The rooms are exceptionally comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay.

My friend and I had a fantastic time staying here. The staff were very attentive, nice, friendly, and always willing to help. Room was medium size and the bathroom/bath area was wonderful. Would definitely stay again!

Nothing.

The traditional Japanese breakfast was nice and classic although portions slightly small. The location of the Ryokan was fantastic - well within walking distance of everything in Gion. The area was quiet and safe.

I have nothing I disliked particularly. I would just say that there was nothing that made the stay above and beyond outstanding.

Location was fantastic, rooms are well appointed, the bath was comfortable, everything was clean

Small detail - Did not have a western breakfast option for kids (even a fried egg or pancake would be acceptable) but there is a cafe next door serving breakfast pastries. Would be nice to have non dairy option for coffee.
