Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Thank you to the wonderful hosts, Chris and Muthoni from Alpha Home Stay. This was truly a stay that felt straight out of a Disney movie. Alice and Lois greeted us after our long drive with the warmest hugs and the most beautiful smiles. The kids immediately jumped into the warm heated pool, and it set the tone for a magical visit. The food Alice prepared was phenomenal, filled with fresh, organic fruits and vegetables from the garden and yummy dishes. She even made us a large lunch that was an extra cost but absolutely worth it. Chris and Muthoni were so kind and generous. They joined us for a lovely evening filled with great conversation and memorable stories. Their recommendations for the rest of our trip were spot on. The dogs, Cassius, Olivia, Milan, and Shadow, were all gentle and sweet, especially with the children. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable, and having two bedrooms allowed us to get a peaceful night’s sleep. Make sure to visit the chicken coop in the morning, where Lois collects the eggs for breakfast. This stay was filled with warmth, joy, and unforgettable moments. We would love to return!

ColombiaA bit expensive for what it is, even with 2 meals. Super remote although they can organise cars and boda bodas to come pick you up and take you to places for not much money.
Staff lovely, great food.

ItalyI stayed at Alphas Homestay 3 nights with a friend and it was wonderful! After one month in Kenya this was one of the best accommodations we’ve found so far. The homestay is located in a private conservancy where you can ride the bike and admire buffalos, zebras and giraffes all around. The room was very clean and the bathroom very spacious, there is also a beautiful patio next to the bedroom where we you can have tea and relax, we appreciate it a lot. We had breakfasts and dinners at the homestay that we really enjoyed, the girls served us delicious meals. As vegetarians it was very nice to find a place were we can get delicious home made vegetarian food ! Muthoni and Chris are great hosts they made us feel at home away from home. We can’t wait to come back in August 😊

United StatesGreat homestay! Owners are extremely friendly and great hosts. Alice and the rest of the team are the soul of the homestay and make you feel like you’re part of the family. We miss Alice’s cooking already! We also really enjoyed touring the private gardens. The owners have a great home and property! Last but not least, we will miss the “security team” of Shadow, Cassius, Fluffy, Olivia, and Mila :)

Colombia-
We liked how private it is: no hotels or loud neighbors, we felt like the only ones in the whole savanna. We also enjoyed driving around the property right after breakfast, around 8.30 am as there always are wild animals pasturing. We met giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, warthogs, monkeys, gazelles and antilopas as we drove around. As for the accommodation, it is very clean, neat, well-maintained. There's everything you may need, including a bathrobe. The kid really enjoyed the swimming pool and playing with the host's dogs.

BelgiumSince its a bit further away from everything, you better take your time here. We had 2 days and that was definitely not enough :) ;)
Super nice place ! Gigantic rooms, big shower with good water pressure (rare in Kenya :) ). Alice & the staff are super nice - always helpfull & great cooking ! The place is located in a game reserve, so you need to do 20 bumpy minute without paved road to get there. But if you do it during the day, its a free game drive :). We saw giraffes, zebras and pumbas every day

United KingdomThere wasn't really anything I didn't like! The shower could be cleaned as some mould and a kettle automatically in the room would be great but no big deal as was provided when asked. Also would have preferred a net for the mosquitos but the 2nd night I slept better when spraying the mosquito spray before going back to the room...may be useful to advise guests to do this as it didn't cross my mind until I had mosquitos harassing me in the night!
The owners made me feel so welcome! It's a gorgeous property with only 2 rooms for guests so it is so relaxing and feels very private! The staff were so helpful and friendly. The facilities were gorgeous! The heated swimming pool was a lovely addition! The grounds are lovely to walk around.
