Thank you to the wonderful hosts, Chris and Muthoni from Alpha Home Stay. This was truly a stay that felt straight out of a Disney movie. Alice and Lois greeted us after our long drive with the warmest hugs and the most beautiful smiles. The kids immediately jumped into the warm heated pool, and it set the tone for a magical visit. The food Alice prepared was phenomenal, filled with fresh, organic fruits and vegetables from the garden and yummy dishes. She even made us a large lunch that was an extra cost but absolutely worth it. Chris and Muthoni were so kind and generous. They joined us for a lovely evening filled with great conversation and memorable stories. Their recommendations for the rest of our trip were spot on. The dogs, Cassius, Olivia, Milan, and Shadow, were all gentle and sweet, especially with the children. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable, and having two bedrooms allowed us to get a peaceful night’s sleep. Make sure to visit the chicken coop in the morning, where Lois collects the eggs for breakfast. This stay was filled with warmth, joy, and unforgettable moments. We would love to return!

    Staff lovely, great food.

A bit expensive for what it is, even with 2 meals. Super remote although they can organise cars and boda bodas to come pick you up and take you to places for not much money.

The room itself was very spacious and clean, and the bathroom was large and well-maintained. The facilities overall were great—comfortable and thoughtfully arranged. Also, a staff member named Alice was incredibly kind and helpful throughout my stay. She genuinely cared and tried to make me feel more comfortable, even though the situation was not her fault. Her presence was one of the few positive aspects of my time there.

Unfortunately, the host was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful during my stay. She told me she would bring water to my room shortly after I checked in around 6 p.m., but no one came for over an hour. I couldn’t use my phone inside the room due to signal issues and was unable to open the door myself. I was essentially locked in and had no way to contact anyone directly. Eventually, around 7:30 p.m., a kind staff member named Alice came and opened the door. She apologized, though it wasn’t her fault. Later, when I spoke with the host and explained what happened, she flat-out denied it in a very rude and aggressive tone, saying “No, I didn’t say that.” I was shocked and deeply hurt—not just by the denial, but by her attitude, which made me feel like I was being scolded rather than treated as a guest. She never apologized, nor did she speak to me again for the rest of my stay—not even at checkout. She simply looked at me without a word. I felt so unwelcome in a place I paid to stay in. The property is also located far from town, and without a personal car, the taxi fare ended up being very expensive—for transport.

I stayed at Alphas Homestay 3 nights with a friend and it was wonderful! After one month in Kenya this was one of the best accommodations we’ve found so far. The homestay is located in a private conservancy where you can ride the bike and admire buffalos, zebras and giraffes all around. The room was very clean and the bathroom very spacious, there is also a beautiful patio next to the bedroom where we you can have tea and relax, we appreciate it a lot. We had breakfasts and dinners at the homestay that we really enjoyed, the girls served us delicious meals. As vegetarians it was very nice to find a place were we can get delicious home made vegetarian food ! Muthoni and Chris are great hosts they made us feel at home away from home. We can’t wait to come back in August 😊

The internet was a little bit shakey and also if the towel could be white that would be amazing.

Alphas Homestay is a lovely property that sits on a private and fenced ranch. The pictures truly do not do it justice. However, because it is in a private reserve and fenced off, you will not see any animals except for driving to and from through the reserve without booking a guide to walk you around, and the lakeside properties are all private so we ended up driving very far each day to do any activities. Communication with the owner and staff before and during our stay was very poor. We specifically asked about renting a car and driving ourselves vs. hiring a taxi each day, and they confidently confirmed it was better to hire a taxi. This ended up costing a lot more money and time, and we ended up wasting an entire day trying to rent a car in town. Lesson learned…rent a car ahead of time! The head staffer who also cooks was defensive about this situation. And then when she offered to do our laundry as part of the included services we accepted, but upon checking out she said we indeed needed to pay, but said we needed to pay whatever we thought was appropriate. This even set my Kenyan partner off who is typically very calm. This type of service is unacceptable. Just tell us up front how much it costs, especially when we’ve already wasted so much time and money. Additionally, the beds were extremely uncomfortable, I would have slept outside had it not been for the mosquitoes. Neither me or my partner got any good sleep during our four night stay. We tried to ride the bikes but they were also broken. As beautiful as this property is, I can not recommend, especially not for four nights.

It was fairly warm at night. Didn’t sleep well. Would have been nice to have a fan.

Alphas homestay was brilliant. Access though a game park. Excellent accomodation, food & pool. Ideal for the Lake Naivasha, nicely isolated from the busy areas. Chris, Mathoni and their staff made us feel very welcome.
