How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewVery nice and calm atmosphere as its a bit outside Watamu centre. Nice staff and a great location directly on the beach. Table tennis and other games available. Very decent restaurant with good prices. Endless activities in the area, such as kite surfing, scuba diving, snorkeling, fishing, yoga, SUP etc Overall amazing holidays for a moderate price.
The tent was quite small with a suitcase.

Verified reviewPerfect place with budget tents where you can stay. Beachfront, for us best beach in Watamu. You can go easily to the town to have dinner and lunch in local places for a reasonable price. The staff are really nice and friendly.

Verified reviewThe set up was giving camping vibes, the tent set up was pretty great - Cleaned everyday and quiet and pretty serene. We loved all the spaces that were laid out in the property to chill and relax, especially the ones with a view of the ocean. Loved the pool, the food, and overall the stay was an amazing experience. Beach access was very easy - just wake up and walk to the beach and enjoy the ocean waves.

Verified reviewWe really enjoyed our time at this place. It’s located next to the beach, so for everyone who enjoys the beach this place is amazing. Also, the prices are good for what you get. Lastly the staff was very friendly. Benjamin helped us very good with any inconveniences we had and Stanley and Justus are two very kind and good chefs! We definitely would recommend this place.
logically the tent is very warm

Verified reviewFriendly staff, beautiful scenery, lots of lovely indigenous trees for shade, tent balanced comfort with consideration for nature. Short walk to a stunning beach!
Minor brief power cut in the night, but didn't have a particularly adverse impact on my enjoyment of the stay

Verified reviewI really enjoyed the location. The beach was amazing, and overall, the whole experience was great.
I stayed in tent 3, and the Wi-Fi wasn't working there. I think it was the same in tent 4 as well. It was a bit inconvenient at times, but honestly, I wasn’t there for the Wi-Fi. I came to explore, so I didn’t really mind.

Verified reviewThis was my first time glamping and I am so glad I took a chance on Bamba Kofi! It was such a wonderful experience! The tented camp area is surrounded by trees and gives this feeling of being immersed in nature. The sound of the ocean at night was so calming! The property itself also has cottages in case one isn't feeling adventerous enough for a more outdoorsy experience. 😁 I loved that the beach was just a few minutes walk and that there were various view points where one could sit and just take in the breathtaking views of the ocean. There is also a pool available in case you want a break from swimming in the ocean! The staff was also very helpful and pleasant! Special mention goes to Benjamin, Alice and Stanley! This was definately a wonderful discovery and I look forward to my next visit!
The bathroom could do with some hooks and maybe a small shelf to place items when one is showering. The lighting in the tent could be better...perhaps an extra lamp.

Verified reviewWe loved staying in the tent hut, showering under the trees and cooking and eating outside. The setting is so beautiful, surrounded by nature, and the beach and the sea are incredible. Truly magical place to stay.
As vegetarians we did get a bit bored of the food options in the restaurant, but we could have cooked more or gone into town more - but it’s a moto ride away and we didn’t always feel like it. The food we did have was tasty and cooked with love - but it’s certainly not quick - order in advance if you get hungry fast :-)

Verified reviewStayed here last year and loved it so came back! The place has added various new facilities such as the diving center (little pricier than average but would recommend) and massage place. Pool is great and there is a lot of space next to the sea (but still inside the compound) to lie in the sun or watch the stars. You can cook yourself, store groceries in the underground fridge or eat at the restaurant (food is ok, but we chose to eat somewhere else most of the time). Location is amazing right next to the beach, but a bit away from Watamu town so you can get lots of peace and quiet. Everywhere is still within 10 min drive on a motorbike or so.
The tents are getting old and our zipper was broken. Would recommend fixing or replacing them.
Welcome back Thomas. We will be upgrading the Tented Camp this year.

Verified reviewThe food was amazing, staff attentive and kind , if a bit slow. The property is Beautiful, spotlessly clean, with monkeys, birds and lizards galore, right on the beach, but the dunes keep it sheltered and private.
Problems were that big groups took over the pool and loungers were reserved by towels for hours on end, which meant they were not often available to tent dwellers. The shared shower at the tent area was often only a drizzle, and had no light so only able to use in the day. Just felt that the tent dwellers were an afterthought.
Thanks for the feedback. The Tented Camp is a feature of the property and allows all budget holiday options. We are looking at putting in a second pool as indeed in the High Season our facilities are well utilised.
