Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustriaThe toilets run on water from the biodigester and unfortunately one can smell it in the rooms. It seems as if the biodigester is not functioning anymore. In the second night this became quite a nuisance. For a hotel with such a modern look and opened just 9 years ago I would’ve expected hot water in the showers of the rooms. Even after waiting for 30 minutes there was no hot water. Interestingly the hot shower in the spa area worked and provided instant hot water. Since we knew the hotel from before these were two minor things and we knew what to expect. Loud noises at night (generator, vacuum cleaner or construction noises) were new but since we normally live in Nairobi we’re used to a bit of noise at night. We really like the hotel and its amenities but after nearly a decade one can see the scars of daily operations. I hope that the management invests in some minor repairs here and there to guarantee the high standards that we experienced during the first stay, while quality has gone down a little during our recent stay. It is nothing big just an eye for detail that keeps the quality high.
It was our second stay and so we knew what to expect and exactly why we came there. We loved the modern architecture of the campus. Totally recommend the spa, which is spacious and modern with a beautiful view of Fort Jesus, good therapists and affordable prices. The Spa was the only reason why we came back to this Hotel after 2 years. The WiFi in the rooms worked excellent. We really liked the setting with the different little restaurants on the promenade deck. This gives the whole area a special atmosphere.

KenyaThe seats around the pool are so old and uncomfortable. The telephones in the apartments do not work. Also that we are not able to cook even an egg while we are staying in the apartment for days does not make sense.
The holiday vibe, the ambience, the fact that they have a gym and a spa, different restaurants. Everything under one roof. The security also is top notch

United KingdomThe standard rooms are unimpressive for a hotel of this quality. They front the hotel car park - a bit like being in an inner city condo. No balcony and nothing special.
Very friendly staff and modern facilities.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at English Marina Mombasa Hotel, and I must say, it was an excellent experience from start to finish. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by Okoth at the reception, whose professionalism and friendliness set the tone for the rest of my stay. A big thank you also to Brenda, another receptionist who was equally helpful and courteous throughout. A special shout-out to our driver, Mathew, who was always punctual and kind, and also to the other driver whose name I, unfortunately, can’t recall – both made our movements comfortable and stress-free. I’d also like to appreciate the security personnel, especially those stationed at the entrance. Their diligence in ensuring the door was always locked made me feel very safe and cared for during my time there. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Nautica and the other food court team – the food was consistently delicious, and the service top-notch. Every meal was a delight, served with a smile. All in all, it was a wonderful stay – the warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail by every staff member made it truly memorable. I highly recommend English Marina Mombasa Hotel and look forward to returning again!

PakistanThe hotel itself is located on the beach. There is a whole range of restaurants within the hotel complex. The location does not allow for any walking to any close by areas. You need to get a cab or Uber. The hotels internet is very patchy.

United KingdomSushi chef needs to understand that mayonnaise is never put on sushi under any circumstances. The scourge of mayonnaise needs to be abolished permanently. If people are chilish enough to like it, then they can ask for it on the side.
