This is the perfect hotel for a getaway, far but not super far from the main streets, up in the hills.  Hilllar and Roland, If it's not a Hillar then it's Roland, If it's not Roland then it's a Hillar who alternately compete in hospitality and kindness. Long ago they left their tribes and climbed the Hill from where they look at the lake Victoria, Kisumu city and maybe even you down there as you climb towards them because a small number of taxi drivers will bring you up there for a decent price, due to the bad roads.  These two guys are taking care of the property 24/7. Pass through their door is like the entrance to the castle where you will be greeted by perfectly clean sheets and possibly some noisy guests but above all you will be greeted by hospitality, common kitchen, reliable wi-fi and electricity, beautiful 265 degrees view, many trees and spacious green yard. These guys are fearless and will look after you and do everything to make your stay comfortable, pleasant, clean.  Even if you meet a few crawling creatures on the way, don't worry, they will catch them before they even enter the yard.  And don't forget to sometimes share food with these relaxed people, because they are far from their families.  But if necessary, Hillar will prepare a feast for you, from the menu. It is out of town with no restaurant close by.

A Beautiful place out of town surrounded by nature. If you want a quiet, peaceful place after exploring the city this place is it. It has the beautiful views of the city and Lake Victoria

The breakfast was Okey. The location is a bit off the main highway and so maybe no late arrivals because of where it is situated. But for a stay in the location is perfect. But for someone who wants to see around it was a bit off

The wifi was abit unstable and frustrating, I had to supplement with my own bundles, but the staff raised the issue to those concerned and they promised to work on it. The road leading to the hotel is Abit Stony, but for a short distance as the longer stretch is well tarmaked. The location is ideal for those who want to spend quiet time away from noisy town.

Would recommend a television in the rooms.

The location and view is beautiful. The weather is amazing as well and loved their hospitality. When visiting Kisumu would stay here and refer a friend as well.

It's a bit far to reach but still connected with boda bodas of you walk 5 mins

The place offers a very serene tranquil environment which makes it a great place to chil and eat great food from the resort

Be aware that this amazing place is 5 km out of town. The roads on the hill are all rocky dirt roads. It's a bit of a challenge to reach Lago Resort. If you don't mind challenging roads, then this is your place to be.

I absolutely love the place! The staff is very friendly and helpful. I extended my stay with a few weeks:-) The views are spectacular. The neighbourhood is perfect for hiking, running and cycling. My double room on the top floor felt like home. Will definitely come back!

The location isn’t accessible easily and about 25/30 minutes away from the city and 40 from the lake. Drinks are expensive. I don’t recommend taking a ride with their friend “Robert”. He’ll charge you 3-5 times more than a usual taxi or Uber. Ride motos instead.

The staff is very friendly and will make sure you’re comfortable. They’ll also help you find the best solution to your concerns/questions. The view is great and relaxing. Feels good to be away from the craziness of the city sometimes. Food was good.

You can get lost accessing the place.. But otherwise, being lost is still an adventure. 😊

I loved the views and how green it was. The place has such nice people! My favorite person was Joseph. Nester is also very helpful. The food is quite tasty! Would definitely recommend you to try the place.

I really enjoyed tuhe calm property with great views. The staff was very kind and helpful - try out their tour to Kakamega rainforest where they build up a camping site - it is an amazing experience!

The rooms were a bit dated, with no television and the WiFi was not adequate. Plus the roads leading to the hotel were barely passable. Some taxi drivers refused to go to the hotel !!!

The location was serene, quiet and tranquil. Staff were good, nothing was too much trouble for them.
