How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewIt's a tented camp on the shores of Lake Naivasha, relatively close to the town. A good location for a stopover between Lake Nakuru / the west and Masai Mara / Amboseli / the east. More affordable but also more simple than the upmarket lakeside resorts (Simba, Sopa, Enashipai, etc). Accommodation was in a huge tent, on a platform with a permanent bathroom attached, with two large double beds and a single bed, desk, small veranda etc. Quite comfortable, looking out over a central grassy area and the lake beyond it. Saw hippos grazing at night. Meals were fine.
The lakeshore is close to the Karagita public beach and mainly a launching sites for boat tours, not a place to sit quietly and enjoy the lake. There is a ticket office for boat tours in the grounds and a steady stream of visitors for such tours during the day.

Verified reviewThe location is great for Hells gate and Naivasha lake. The room is very spacious and have a great lake view. The kitchen and restaurant staff are great, super friendly and attentive. They provided a hot water bottle at night to keep you warm, which greatly appreciated.
We travelled during the rain season so it can be very cold. The bathroom is pretty much like an ice room and it is very tricky to get the water to the right temperature from the shower. They also could have give each person a bottle of hot water rather than just 1. What worst for me is the staff in the late afternoon does not seem to care much what the guest said, but rather just do what they were trained to do. For both nights that we staying there, they came in around 6-7 pm to give you the hot water bottle and put down curtains and mosquito net. The first day I was in the room napping, but my husband sat at the balcony and he asked the staff just give him the hot water bottle and he will bring it in himself. The male staff acted surprised and keep pressing to get in the room, to the point where my husband jumped up from his chair to get the water from his hands and stopping him from going in. The second day, my husband was in the toilet while I was sitting in the room in my underwear (there are just the 2 of us) when the staff came. I told him to WAIT and I will get the door for him, but he walked straight in while I was trying to put my trousers on. I thought he would walk out immediately but nope. He didn't even stop and process to the bed to put down the water bottle ect and after I repeatedly asking him to please leave as I will do the rest myself and it's very inappropriate of him to walk in while I'm in my underwear he left. I also saw staff bringing big stick and stones to throw at waterbuck in the garden. Not sure what's their problem is but it's not very nice to see they screaming and hurting such gentle creatures. and I'm sure tourists would like to see them around too.

Verified reviewthe view of lake naivasha. How large my room was as well (I got a single deluxe room and it was lovely). The service was really good and friendly. There was a swimming pool as well as boat rides at a really fair price. IT WAS SO GOOOODDD!!
the fact that there were no phones in the room in case of an emergency.

Verified reviewThe tent was luxury. I loved that the animals come up to 10' from the tent. Best food buffet I had while in Kenya.
Nothing it was all great.

Verified reviewLocation, staff, overall nice camp, food was good too
Price simply out of rages, exorbitant for a camp that is a good camp but nothing neither glorious nor excellent, even less exceptional…

Verified reviewStaff was very friendly and accommodating, structured were well-maintained, but a little worn around the edges. These are predominantly tent-houses which provide a great safari feel but are rustic in their very nature! Fabrics, very clean and housekeeping offered hot water bottle for the night which was not needed. This and neighbouring sites have to battle with rising and encroaching lake levels since 2020 which already led some sites & buildings originally closer to the lake front to be abandoned to the water. Views and proximity to Crescent Island with in-house boats tours around the lake and island are ideal.
Bedlinen and towels were damp despite being early June. Barren wood floors, however, cold under feet in the morning and evening and a few rugs would not come amiss. Noise level from neighbouring were noticeable, but ceased around 10:00pm.

Verified reviewBreakfast was decent, several options available both continental and classical English. Lots of fruit. A variety of omelettes was also available.
The area around the camp is noisy especially during night and on Sunday morning. The lake shore is quite dirty at that location.
