Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI was told that the hotel was built in 1973. It shows its age in some ways. The fittings are old fashioned.
The hotel is very central, the rooms are quite large - many have balconies - and the breakfast buffet is generous. It is a reasonably priced and comfortable place to stay.

United StatesLike others have shared, the decor and facilities are quite dated, though still comfortable. The front desk staff were responsive but quite cold. And the laundry service pricing is exhorbitant. $100 USD for one load of laundry is crazy. It would be half that in the US or Europe with a much higher labor and materials cost.
Great, central location. Safe and secure. Security and entrance staff werr very friendly.

United StatesBe sure to ask for a quiet room if you are a light sleeper as the rooms facing University Way, the main road, can be very noisy with the traffic. I was initially placed on that side, but then had to check out and store my bags when I went on a three-day safari, and made the front desk aware of this, as well as the Guest Relations Manager, who was also helpful. They put me in a room at the back of the hotel for my return check-in with a lovely view of the city of Nairobi, and I slept much better and heard no traffic...I was on a higher floor which also helped. Some of the facilities in the bathroom are a bit outdated and probably need to be upgraded, but everything worked well in the end, and the hotel was very good about fixing things.
The front desk staff, esp Violet, were very friendly and helpful. My concerns about the room (e.g., lack of water pressure in shower) were addressed immediately and even noticed by the person who cleaned the room before I noticed it myself, and he had it fixed right away. Whatever issues there were, they were always addressed with punctuality and friendliness. The free wifi worked very well all the time. The breakfast was excellent and had a great selection of different options, and the serving staff were always friendly and helpful. The convenience of the hotel to the conference at the University of Nairobi across the road was great, and the the location of the hotel was great for getting Ubers and taxis. The hotel has a nice pool, gym, and steam room, which I looked at, but didn't have time to use. The restaurant and bar are nice for dinner. The security people at the front door were always so friendly, and I always looked forward to their smiles upon return to the hotel or in the morning when departing. The suites are lovely and good value for money as you have a separate living room and bedroom. Our conference had to go online for the first day due to protests in the city and we had to be confined to the hotel, so doing the conference online was easy in the living room section of the rooms. The hotel gave us a very nice final banquet at the conclusion of the conference.

KenyaWhile the breakfast and lunch are served in a luxury buffet restaurant, the dinner is served in a small restaurant more like a bar. I would have preferred to dine in the luxury buffet restaurant. The mattresses were very hard, I have never slept on such a hard mattress before. (When mentioning this after 2 nights we were told that on request the hotel supplies an additional softer mattress to put on top of the regular mattress.)
The hotel is situated just at the western edge of the Central Business Center of Nairobi. With 5 minutes walking to the center of the CBD. The building is called Lilian Towers and is an iconic building16 storeys high shaped as an "S" and exterior designed to look a bit like a corn cob. First high rise building in Nairobi. The hotel is easy to reach from the main roads and a good starting point for any kind of excursions. We were upgraded to a suite with sitting room and bedroom, which is very convenient when one wants to rest and one wants to watch TV, work or read. Guests have free access to gym, swimmingpool and sauna. The breakfast is very good with a luxurious choice of anything one can want from the buffet.

UkraineThe hotel is a bit old. It’s clean and well looked after, but could use a bit of an update. The only real downside was the Wi-Fi in my room, it didn’t work at all. It worked fine in the lobby and hallways, so I had to sit out in the corridor sometimes to get work done, which wasn’t very convenient.
I had a great week at this hotel. What I loved the most, and what I’ll definitely remember, is the staff. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. The ladies at the front desk always had answers to my questions and helped with anything I needed. Personal and huge thank you to Regina! Breakfast was tasty, and I also really liked the food and the menu at the restaurant.

United KingdomThe breakfast menu is good, the rooms are spacious and welcoming. However, the hotel needs to be refurbished in order to maximise its potential. It is well designed and the current decor does not do it justice.
The location of the hotel is good. The architectural design is beautiful. The staff are excellent, very attentive, hospitable and professional. I’d love to give a special shout out to Apollo the Manager, Abishak, Laventa, Eliud for making our stay a good one.
