Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

DenmarkThe electricity supply is very undtagelse, but generators are in place in to take over, but they are extremely noisy and just outside every appartment. Of course a step-up from some of the previous reviews. The kitchen equipment is very worn out. The location is a bit off from everything, but just take a Tuk. The Lodge recommended Tuk-driver was a scam. Trying to get away with x3 normal pricing!! The recommended taxi-driver (Karim +254 726 780780 WhatsApp) was great. We used him in all cases. Some guests like music. It was not an issue, but if everyone starts playing music, it will become very noisy. Chef-service (20 USD per day + food spend) was good and pleasant, but having come from Diani chef-service on Aestus Resort (included), this was not same level, but for sure very nice and a recommended service. The Beach is not really worth much. No beach chairs and the beach is not nice. You will be fronted by a million of beach boys selling souvenirs, coconuts and tours. I recommend never to buy anything as this just makes the problem worse. I sympathize with the people, but my support is not on the beach. Would we go again. I think so, but I would take a look at recent reviews to see if the smaller negative matters have been resolved - if not I would likely choose a more “mature” lodge/villa.
The place has potential - but still a way to go. The place is under construction still - and I am sure it will improve. It seems that the appartments are sold and then rentes via Booking.com. We stayed five nights as a family of 6 in two appartments. The good The appartments are very nice and there is a kitchen. The pool and surroundings of the appartments is very nice. The service team is good and pleasant. Beds are hard (we like that) and there are very few mosquitoes. Chef service was good There is a mall 5 min walk from there. Tourist mall (expensive), but it is fine

FranceThe only problem we had was the mattress which was too hard for us. We got around it by adding sofa mattresses on top. The staff were concerned and very cooperative. One other point - Booking.com has its name wrong. Its name is Rafiki Tamu!
The development of self contained units is well designed and works well. It is essentially self catering, but you can have a chef prépare some or all your meals for $20 a day. The apartments and pool are spotless and the staff wonderfully helpful. If there’s anything wrong it’s fixed in minutes. It’s about a 10-15 minute walk to the beach and 2 good bar/restaurants and less than that to a shopping mall with a food store and a cafe/restaurant.

United KingdomThe only thing stopping it getting a 10 is the really bumpy access road.

KenyaThe staff at the resort were incredibly friendly and helpful, always going above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well-equipped with all the necessary amenities, and I especially appreciated the comfortable beds and pillows. The highlight for me was definitely the food - the resort has several on-site chefs that served us a variety of local cuisines, and every dish I tried was absolutely delicious. The resort also offered a range of activities and excursions for guests to enjoy, including snorkeling, diving, dhow rides,There is truly something for everyone here, whether you're looking for a relaxing beach vacation or an adventure-filled getaway. Overall, I highly recommend Rafiki Jua to anyone looking for a memorable stay in Watamu. The combination of stunning natural scenery, excellent service, and fantastic food make it a top-notch resort that I can't wait to visit again. 👌🌊🏊♀️🌴🍽️
