The hotel doesn’t mention anywhere in Booking.com that they don’t sell alcoholic beverages. As a group traveling together, it was hard to gather after dinner for a small chat over some drinks. There is not even a cafe where you can relax and enjoy the evening. A small pavilion is offered but it’s always locked and to get it open led to some arguments with the staff.

I highly recommend this hotel especially for those who prefer to travel independently without guides. Here you will not only be able to relax, but also will always be under the care and protection. The hotel staff will help you in any situation, no matter what time of day it is and no matter how far you are from the hotel. What else is important for me when choosing a hotel: quietness, comfortable bed, shower with normal water pressure and temperature, good breakfast. All of those I found in Rock Hyrax hotel. And even more. The hotel staff saved me when my car broke down in a remote area. And when I finally got to the hotel at about midnight, a warm dinner was waiting for me in my room. And they absolutely refused to include it in my bill. It was very touching. I felt as if I had come to my parents' house. Special thanks to Ms Mercy for her care and for hospitality!

The staff were so attentive from the second we arrived- the security, to reception, waiting staff, chef and housekeeping, all were so friendly and watm. Elizabeth in particular was fantastic throughout our staym. The service was impeccable and they all ensured everything was taken care of for us from our game drive to food. The entire premises is so well kept and very clean. Rooms are spacious, immaculate, with all features necessary. The little garden area is a nice touch and so peaceful to sit in. They even have a covered gazebo as a social area for evening/rain. Ample parking available. All communication prior to the trip were fast and all necessary information was given.

I liked everything about the facility, from the officers at the gate, the receiving guy who got us from the car carried our bag, took us to the reception then to our room. He showed us around the room & all the ammenities provided, put on the tv for us, went an extra mile to tune it to our preferred channel.....in most places i have been you are left to swim on your own. We had a good night sleep then went for breakfast......we loved it! It was wonderful, we enjoyed every bit of it. It was served in proper proportions & was so fresh & tanto. The staff were all loving & caring. I'll be back!

Can't fault this place.

An exceptional hotel. Good base if you are planning to explore Nakuru and any sites nearby for example the national park. The staff service is friendly and excellent with incredible attention to detail - as an example Purity looked after us very well during our breakfast and the staff at reception were very helpful.

The hotel is located in a serene environment and has an amazing chilled ambience.The well lit compound has a perfect open space for star gazing at night. The overlooking Hyrax Hill was quite refreshing, and the chirping of birds equally soothing. The staff were very welcoming and courteous and loved their well presented meals. The cosy beds are worth every penny and night. They allowed late checkout and greatly loved the experience. The host madam Mercy was superb and clearly understood what delighting clients meant.. Noted that they have very modern conference facilities. I will be back..😊

Simply Amazing. Ms. Mercy, who is the owner of the Facility, she personally drove down from Nairobi to meet us. Had a great conversation with her. It's a new Hotel, very well maintained. Small but one of the best hotels I ever stayed, even when compared to the likes of Europe and the US. We had our dinner at the hotel and the cheff and restaurant staffs were amazing. While leaving for Safari the next day after we checked out, we forgot the Kettle in the room and given that our baby was with us and I will have a hard time finding a new kettle outside the city, she arranged a conveyence to deliver the kettle to us in the Park. For the next day, the Hotel Staff prepared a hearty breakfast for us all,especially keeping the kids in mind. Would definitely recommend Rock Hyrax to anyone who plans to visit Nakuru.

The owner needs to consider installing ACs. Nakuru has changed, the hot season is seriously hot. So AC in the rooms is a must. Otherwise, everything else is perfect.

Via google maps it was a bit difficult to find the right location. A few hundred meters away to the residence was in a pitiful state.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Despite the late arrival time, our expectations were still met. The hostess was more than willing to fulfill our wishes. The stay was neat and equipped with the necessary facilities. An extra compliment for the cook. The food was exquisite.
