Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

We stayed 2 nights in the end of December. We absolutely loved this place. The staff was very helpful and amazing. The room was specious and clean. We really enjoyed breakfasts. The location was good: there were restaurants and supermarkets nearby. Thanks Diana!

When there is no electricity there is no hot water in the shower.
The installation was very clean and comfortable, the room was very big, the breakfast was very good and the host was excellent.

We had a very nice stay at Salmiya place. The room was very cosy and clean, bed was so comfortable. The breakfast was amazing, we enjoyed it so much! The host was wonderful, very friendly and helpful and made our stay in Nairobi easier.

Very friendly host. Breakfast with daily changing fresh fruits, toast and eggs. Clean room. Quiet neighbourhood a bit off the city center. Good WiFi, had one longer blackout but this seems unusual.

We stayed at Salmiya Place for two nights to start our holidays in Kenya. The host Pauline was super friendly and flexible with arrival times, prepared breakfast personally and was also willing to store some of our luggage.

The bathroom was worn down, the shower took long time to get warm and the water pressure wasn’t really sufficient. But I think you’ll have to deal with those issues in a lot of places in Nairobi. So don’t expect a beauty palace in the bathroom, but it does the job :)
Our host (Pauline) was super helpful, cared for our well-being and comfort. She stays in the apartment (but respects your privacy), prepares the breakfast and waits for you to come home safely. The breakfast was really good and we could choose what we wanted (eggs/baked beans/pancakes) next to toast, cereals and tee/coffee/cocoa. Our room was quite spacious with a big bed (two matresses and one blanket). The area was calm, about 20min Uber drive away from the Nairobi bustle. It is really easy to get an Uber/bolt in the area. The house itself is guarded 24/7 so you feel safe.

Very hot shower water and internet a little slow.
Excellent breakfast, very good location, place looks safe, Pauline very friendly. I would only suggest to check the hot water because it was too hot and difficult to regulate. The internet is a bit slow, otherwise great place. It is hot in the room, I suggest a fan because when you open the windows you hear a lot of noise and the mosquitoes come in.

Hot water was not really 24/7, which we weren't told when we were shown the bathroom and a switch that you need to turn on for hot water. Tried to take a hot shower the night before an early am flight, and waited a long time for the water to heat up before giving up. Luckily, Pauline was up the next morning at 5, so we checked with her and she then said it was solar-powered. She offered to heat water for us in a little bucket which we had to use prudently on that cold morning. Other than this hiccup, our stay was very comfortable!
The room was spotless and extremely comfortable. The rest of the shared space - living room, dining room were cosy too. Pauline was very polite and friendly. We had an early flight, so she laid breakfast out for us at 6 am. Thanks!

It took a while for the hot water to come on but it did atleast. According to your advertisement we thought it was a hotel and not an apartment not that it matters . Probably you need to change that .
