How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe staff especially Elizabeth, were very welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was very good with 2 large beds for myself and my daughter. We were allowed to book in early as our flight arrived early in the morning. We were able to stay until our early evening flight. The breakfasts were very good with plenty of choice. We had some evening meals there and they were excellent. The bar area provided a lovely view of evening sunsets. It’s not far from the Impala Sanctuary - we walked there. The taxi driver, Gideon, who picked us up when we arrived, was helpful and took us to various places on other days.
Sadly the swimming pool was not available.

Not the room type I had booked. Down graded. I’ve stayed before so specifically booked the type. No gym available. No pool. That was badly screened off. Offered to be driven to a pool. Not convenient really after a day in work.

There was an accident that happened during a shower. A purely unpredictable situation. I tried to explain to the hotel that I was admitted and was fighting for my life but it all felt on deaf ears. I asked if their hotel had an accidental insurance protection of which. I was bluntly I formed that the case was an accident and I had to pay 26 thousands Kenyans shillings or else they would not release my brothers. Every plea made to resolve this issue once I was out of the hospital fell on deaf ears and I had to pay the money. I feel that this hotel doesn't care about humanity but money. There's absolutely lack of ethic and sensitivity here, unlike other hotels in Kisumu. Im disappointed.

Verified reviewThe service: all the staff were attentive to our needs and requests. Special shout out to Roseline from housekeeping. The hotel is generally beautifully designed. The bathroom is spacious, with a huge shower with hot water. There is also a large bathroom mirror, a toilet and a bidet. Shower gel, soaps, comfy room slippers are provided. The room is huge the bed was comfortable. They provide a desk where one can work from, a make up table and mirror, and a sitting area with 2 comfy seats where you can snuggle as you watch the tv or read a book. You can make your tea/coffee in the room as a kettle is provided. A mini fridge An ironing board and an iron are provided. They also provide laundry services. Restaurant: Loved the ambience They make fresh juice when you place the order Out dinner of tilapia, ugali and local vegetables was delish😋 Breakfast had varied food items. Loved it!

Pool wasn't open and the bath didn't work we asked for help to get running water this took a long time and it wasn't repaired in the end. The hotel offered us no solutions to this or apology which is a shame

Verified reviewThe breakfast experience at the hotel was underwhelming. While the ambiance and service were pleasant, the selection of food left much to be desired. The options were limited, and what was available seemed to lack variety. Moreover, the food temperature was lukewarm, which detracted from the overall enjoyment of the meal. The coffee, in particular, did not meet expectations; it lacked the robust flavor one would hope for in a good cup. Improvements in both the variety of offerings and the quality of preparation would greatly enhance the breakfast experience for guests. Despite these shortcomings, the staff were attentive and courteous, providing a welcoming atmosphere that added some positivity to the dining experience
While there were some aspects of the stay that were enjoyable, there were a few issues that affected my overall experience. The shower door didn’t close properly, causing water to pour onto the floor, which was quite inconvenient. Additionally, the bathroom wasn’t as clean as I had expected, and that was a bit disappointing. As for breakfast, it did not meet the standard I had hoped for. The selection was limited, and the overall quality didn’t quite match up to expectations. While the staff were friendly and accommodating, these issues made it difficult to fully enjoy my stay.

Many small things - there was no hot water in the morning, the plumbing was a mess, the main door had a problem as it was very hard to shut it, the walls were full of moulds, etc. they need to maintain their infrastructure. It did not feel apt for the charges.
