Reviews of Olkinyei Mara Tented Camp

The tent interior and exterior are very nice and luxurious. All the sanitory fitting was very neat and modern. The locatin is right outside the Talek Park gate. Staff named Mr. Ben (waiter) and Mr. Jeffry is very nice and polite The food was delicious. The chef was very cooperative and followed the instructions properly.

The staff stole USD300 from my wallet, which was kept in my room inside my bag when I went for dinner on the first night, while the main door was locked. Upon bringing this to management's attention, they investigated the matter. After a long waiting, this amount was adjusted in my final billing. I was also informed that the staff has an additional key and they have access to the room for cleaning purposes. When I tried to contact Miss Sandra, who is the owner of the property, the management denied me to meet her and contact her. Not provide a safe locker in the room to keep cash and valuables.

To start, Sandra was beyond helpful in organising transfers, safaris and giving advice on how to make the trip as smooth as possible. Transfer was excellent, all on time and driving was great. Welcome to camp was lovely. Tent was spacious, clean and drinking water always available. Hot water for showers. The team was always on hand for anything you needed, afternoon coffee and cake was delicious and not expected. Daniel and the good team were great, food has a great variety in the event and was delicious. Packed lunch’s and breakfasts on safari were awesome too. Location is amazing being just outside the national park. Joseph was a great game driver, we have a great 2 1/2 days of safari. Thank you to the whole team, we can’t wait to come back!

Everyone was so very kind and helpful the stay was so worth it and it added more value to an amazing adventure in Masai Mara apart from the safari Especially the owner was very friendly and made my stay extremely comfortable. It's a one of a kind experience. The premium lodge is a must try.

Everything was fantastic. Starting from the location, to Sandra to each of the staff. While it was not announced that there will be personal attention given to each guest, it did become apparent that there was one individual per room who took the prime responsibility to take care of us, while others chipped in as an when needed. For us, it wasNtaya / Ben. The warmth of each and every staff member was enough to make the heart melt. The place was well maintained and cozy. The food was fantastic. We were vegetarians and the chef comes good Indian vegetarian food. We were also celebrating an important occasion as a couple and they all went out of the way to decorate the room when we first arrived and also take extra efforts to ensure that my dose was comfortable as she was fasting one of the days. nothing as such. a suggestion works be to have a signboard at the entrance on where the reception is, so that guests don't wait at the entrance in case no one is there at that point of time

Such a nice stay ! It’s right near in a minute Talek gate so access to the park is super easy , so many wildlife near ! Very cosy tent, very comfortable bed. It’s like you are inside the forest . In the night you hear some animals which is amazing l. And personal is so nice . I recommend and definitely come back .

The staff is super nice and friendly. The property is one of a kind, making a great place to stay at. It is perfectly located next to Talek Gate - very convenient to go into Masai Mara in just 1min drive.

The wonderful, friendly staff made the stay. The camp is small and cosy, appears to be being improved and tweaked all the time. We stayed in the most basic tent type and it was great. Clean, very comfy, cosy beds, hot water, lovely toiletries, drinking water provided. The food was excellent. We had the packed breakfast and packed lunch on safari which was delicious and the dinners were always great soup and tasty curries. We organised transfers and safari via the camp and both worked really well. Dennis, our safari guide, was amazing.

Everything about our stay and the property was exceptional. This was one of our best stays ever during a holiday. Kudos to each and every member of the hotel staff for their incredible hospitality.

Everything about the property! Celebrated my birthday in masai Mara ,Olkinyei staff made so many arrangements (a masai dance and cake cutting surprise) the new rooms are pure luxury! The warmth , personalised attention of the staff to cater each tent! From food to the location being 5mins away from the main Talek gate was perfect! special mention for hospitality to Sandra, Joseph who are the owners and Joseph I totally recommend as a guide for safaris he made we saw the Big 4 our 1st day itself!!! Benson who was the manager and each and every staff member were beyond welcoming and helpful!!! 11 out of 10!!

Everything was amazing! The staff was really good. To name a few like Geff, Bastian, Ben, and many more. The food was excellent and super tasty! The tent was also really good. The staff surprised us with complimentary honeymoon services and even did a Maasai dance for us! We don't have any words about how grateful we were and how much we were taken care of. Never had such an amazing hotel experience anywhere in the world.

We had such an amazing time at the Olkinyei Mara Tented Camp. The location was ideal as 100 m outside the Maasai Mara (no multiple days fees involved). The Camp itself had all commodities, but still felt like a camping experience. Well maintained tents. Very good quality interiors. Bed was so comfortable. The food was INCREDIBLE. One of the best I have ever had in my life in its simplicity and I could not stop telling the staff. I asked them if I could try their national dish and they made it for me the day after. The staff was very friendly and accommodating to any of our requests. We did the Safari and all transportation with them and we found all went smooth. I note that they have the best Safari cars, as no windows and you get a good view of the surroundings. Communication was also prompt from the time I booked this place until we left.

People most of all! Location is excellent just 5 mins away from the Talek gate, so very convenient for early morning Game Drives. Food deserves a special mention, very deliciously prepared by Julius and kindly served by Dalmas :) They cater to your needs!

The manager on duty that night and day was wonderful. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I loved everything about the place and would recommend to my friends

The long and bumpy ri.de to get to the grounds. It was a bit uncomfortable and nerve racking

The receptionist’s attitude is very bad, treat us with a poker face. And people around me like bugs to take tips. We asked to have breakfast earlier but they didn’t serve it. The facility is good but the staff is ….

Liked the lication and the people working inside the camp. All the people were very much helpful, specially the chef. Foods were excellent even the location is inside forest. Many animel can be spotted near the camp itself during safari. Did not like - no wi-fi at room and no internet connection , it is not acceptable specially it is mentioned in booking details. No phone connection at room, our tent allotted was far away from reception, we had to walk every time to the reception for any issue. Water pressure in toilet was very less at night, sometimes toilet flush was not working properly. With cost is not less with respect to nearby camp, hence these were not expected. I should not say it was a good value for money.

We really enjoyed our stay in the property. Service from Dalmos, Danielle was exceptional. Dennis made our safari experience very adventurous and informative

I just wished that room lights were a bit brighter as I have a night vision issue.

Excellent location just at the Talek gate! It was really convenient to return for a lunch from safari and then return back. The outdoor facilities are very nice and stylish, same as the tents: spacious, well, equipped, and tastefully designed. Food was delicious, a take away breakfast- excellent! A thumbs up for hospitality and communication! Thank you Sandra, for being so helpful, flexible and ready to answer all possible questions, arrange transfers and safari. Our special thanks go to safari guide Dennis. He’s the definitely the best!!!

The music from the village during the night was sometimes lauder than the sounds of the nature.

We loved our stay at the lodge. The tents are clean and spacious. The lodge is right by the Taek Gate of Masai Maara making it very easy to reach the park. The staff goes above and beyond to make you feel welcomed. The food is delicious. Our safari guides, Denis and Mike, made our experience truly enjoyable. We would recommend staying at the lodge for a true Masai experience.

I liked the serenity of the tented camp, which made our stay very restful. The staff were also very kind and helpful at all times. The food was great as well and their choice of fruits for breakfast was also of impeccable quality. I would guarantee anyone that visits Olkinyei Mara Tented Camp of a great stay. Also, be sure to book your game drives via the Camp. Their preparation and coordination for your drive is amazing e.g. packed breakfast and lunch, great choice of guides, etc. Looking forward to coming back soon.
