Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

KenyaI would suggest that the host add some items to the kitchen. When both rooms are occupied and guests want to cook, the utensils are not sufficient. For example, a frying pan and cooking pots would be useful. I also really missed having a coffee machine or at least a stovetop kettle — that would be a great addition. The toilet in my room was not flushing properly, and the bathroom door also needs some maintenance, as it was not closing well.
I truly enjoyed my stay at this house in Watamu. The location is excellent—quiet and peaceful. The houseboy, Khamisi, was always very helpful whenever I needed assistance, and the host, Justin, was also great at briefing me about the place. The cleanliness of the house stood out the most, along with a perfectly functioning bathroom equipped with a flushing toilet and warm shower. Appreciated by the parent with 4yrs girl who does not like cold showers. I also greatly appreciated the generator, which was very useful during the frequent power cuts.

ItalyUnfortunately the road to reach HuhuruHouse is not well maintained, so it is not that easy for a car to pass through. Motorbikes are better. By the way it is still 10’ by car/motorbike from the city center so not that far away. During our 5 days in Huhuru House we had a few inconvenient with the Wi-Fi and electricity shut down for a day. Fortunately, Khamis the groundskeeper managed to run the power through a generator to make it work shortly. Lastly, sometimes in the morning you can hear birds or dogs. It was not a problem for us, but still.
The property was exactly as described on Booking. Huhuru House is a comfortable and peaceful place to relax and chill in Watamu. Also the staff is good, especially the groundskeeper Khamis was kind and always available for help! Truly recommended for a stay in Watamu!

I loved the house and the team! Everything was cleaned and looked well maintained. The guys were very helpful and provided us anything we needed to make our stay great: beach towels, mosquito repellent, sunscreen, etc. They offered us a delicious breakfast for a fair price. Highly recommended

United KingdomThe property was so beautiful. We arrived, very hot and sweaty and it was a pleasure entering through the gates into such a tranquil place. The house was clean and tidy, very spacious and very close to a lovely beach. Laurence is a lovely person and was so welcoming - making us feel at home straight away. A pleasure to stay here. I would highly recommend.

GermanyWe had a good stay, but there are a few things that we think are not clear from the description: From the description we did not understand that it was a shared kitchen. On top of this, the kitchen was in the other apartment (the people staying in this apartment were just as surprised to find us cooking in "their" space). The room itself cannot be locked, there is also no safe. You can only lock the property. The room is outdoor with a roof. We saw from the pictures that the windows were not covered, but we didn't expect co-living with cats and bats. The pillows were very big and hard. The toilet needs to be repaired, we needed to manually flush.
It's a beautiful property, beautiful garden and we had the pool for ourselves and there are plenty of sun beds. The room is beautiful and it's a great experience to sleep outside, with the sounds of the surrounding nature. The walk to the beach wasn't too far.

My stay at Huhuru House was amazing and unforgettable for me. Not only are the accommodation and the location magical, but above all the owner ensures that you have a perfect stay. The accommodation is designed with great attention to detail and the breakfast is the best I've ever had. Lauren is always available to help and advise you regarding travel planning and all other questions. I really enjoyed myself there and spontaneously even extended my stay. In just a few days I was able to experience more relaxation and peace than I had in a long time. I am very grateful for the wonderful time and would like to come back at any time! A big recommendation :)

BrazilBe prepared that sometimes the whole village is out of power/electricity, this is nothing to blame the Huhuru House, its out of their hands, and they do have a petrol power generator in place in case of need.
Lauren was a super host, helped me with all I needed (boda boda - local moto taxi, beach suggestions, reservations) and engaging in great conversations while preparing my breakfast. I went during the low season (june) and having the place basically for me was the best experience... there was another guest in the villa, but we met only once, so pool and facilities were all free which allowed me to really rest and enjoy my vacations.

CanadaOne night the neighbours throw a party (which is not her fault at all). But she offered us to stay downstairs where you could not hear anything at all. So even though there was that, she was able to help and we really appreciated it.
Laurence is a wonderful host, she helped us through our stay and went above and beyond. The area is peaceful and the property is great. You have access to the kitchen that has anything you need to cook something. Also, the cats and turtle are so cute and friendly. Breakfasts are perfect!

BelgiumLittle piece of paradise run by a terrific soul. Laurence is such a cool and funny woman, and the house is just wonderful. We loved our time there and wish we could have stayed longer. The breakfast is delicious, fresh, made with so much attention and love. Cool cats and turtle wandering around, comfy bed, close to snake farm... everything was lovely! Watamu town and beach can be easily reach by tuktuk or boda boda, and snake farm by foot if you want. Thanks for everything Laurence 🙏
