How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewA very friendly non-commercial hostel with lots of vibrancy and character both inside and out. The owner and international volunteer are very friendly and sociable and the overall design reflects that. It is one of the least pricey hostels in Karakol and it is definitely a safe and reliable option. The bathroom and bed were clean, and use of the washing machine is a reasonable 150 soms, and there is complimentary tea, coffee, and a usable kitchen should you wish. Would recommend to all. 8.5/10.

Verified reviewA simple hostel for laid back travellers. The part I loved the most was the apricot and pear trees in the back. The kitchen is very well stocked, laundry is cheap, and the hosts are super friendly.
There's only one bathroom available and it combines the washbasin, toilet and shower. So usually there's some waiting involved.

Verified reviewMy favorite guesthouse in Kyrgyzstan. An amazing vibe and friendly people. And probably one of the best house cats I have ever met. Shampoo is really keeping this place alive 😃 👍 👌 make sure to buy him food. He is a special boy.

Verified reviewOur favourite place in Kyrgyzstan, and it wasn't even close. We ended up staying an extra 2 nights on top of our original 2 night booking as we just loved the apartment room and the rest of the facilities. Top marks to Sandro who was immensely helpful and kind, throughout our stay and is not your typical hostel host (ask about his hitchhiking...). Our room was perfect, not fake-luxury or bland and monochrome, it felt like staying in a close friends apartment but all to yourself. Maps, guides, books, the room and wider building has a completely authentic feel - because it is. Washing machine, as well as other key amenities, are all onsite for your convenience. Thanks again Sandro and best of luck.
Nothing.
Thank you Finn for your very kind words! We were happy you stayed at our place, you're always welcomed back! We wish you two nothing but the best!

Verified reviewAida and Sandro are great hosts, very helpful, warm and welcoming. They know most of the places around Karakol and will happily advise you on where and how to go. Mattresses in the hostel are better and bigger than in most places in KGZ.
The old furniture and overall equipment of the place. It's an old house turned into a hostel and unfortunately it would need some refurbishment, specifically carpets, because they are old and don't have a pleasant odour. Also there's just one bathroom in the hostel and one toilet in the yard, so it doesn't suffice since the volume of guests is usually more.

Verified reviewAmazing host, super nice homestay atmosphere 🥰 quite place with outdoor garden. Simple but authentic Kyrgyz accommodation. Aida always has a smile and makes you feel at home, and she speaks very good English too 😉 Kitchen available, laundry service, tent and mats rental at a very good price. Walking distance from the city centre. Totally recommend!! You also have a very good massage centre just around the corner, ideal if you come back from an extenuating trek!

Verified reviewKind owners, nice kitchen that is usable and a grocery store close by, nice garden space. Great for the price.
The bed was like a hammock, sunk in very deep. The bathroom doesn't lock, I was walked in on 2 times. Too many people sharing the one bathroom
Thanks for the review Annika. Regarding the lock, there is no issue at all. You could have asked us, and we happily would have shown you how to use the lock. There is a second toilet in the garden. It's just a squad toilet, but it can be used as well.

Verified reviewWe stayed in this amazing accomodation recently. We planned to stay only 1 night, but then we decided to stay 2 nights, and if we have more days of holiday, we definitely stay longer. Eagle's Nest has a good location, easy accesible from any important location in Karakol. It is larger rural and older house, but it was very comfortable for us. As soon as we came inside, we felt really good, and it was amazing during our whole stay. Aida is a manager of this place, she is very kind, friendly and smart. She helped us a lot and gave many practical advices about Karakol and places around. Our room was small, but very cosy, we met here many travellers from all around the world, this made Eagle's Nest even more interesting. I need to say that this is not a 5 star hotel, but it is exactly the place where I can relax without stress from busy, urban and "modern" life. Thank you for this accomodation, we have many good memories, and I believe that God will give us an opportunity to come back again.

Verified reviewThis hostel has a very homely feel There are plenty of places to relax and meet fellow travellers The owners and staff are delightful and are able to help with all questions about Karakol. There is a well equipped kitchen and a large Globus Supermarket literally round the corner 5 minutes away Highly recommended for a chilled stay Mike
Unfortunately there is only one toilet, basin and shower room which could present some inconvenience when the hostel is full
Hi Mike, thank you very much for your lovely comment. We are happy you stayed with us!

Verified reviewThe absolute NICEST people!! Rufa & Aida, thank you for making my stay at Karakol so lovely. Bringing chocolates & the room upgrade on my birthday meant more than you'll know, plus the hostel itself was exceptional in so many ways. The outside hammock + garden + swing were highlights. You are all awesome, thank you all a ton :)
