How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Verified reviewWifi didn't work well inside rooms. The bathroom cannot be locked from inside. It was full of flies. When I entered the room after checking in, the owner got super angry and told me to take off my shoes. I'm not her mom, there's no way I'd understand if she hadn't explained it to me. Even after I took them off, she continued to yell at me to take them off. Also she told me to be quiet for other guests. It was her who was shouting! Furthermore, the hostel gate (door) was open when I went out in morning. But when I came back just after 20 mins, she had put a large stone to prevent from opening it from outside. Afterwards, she sent me a message telling me to understand the check out time and leave by 11:00. At 8 am! Everyone I met in Kyrgyzstan was so kind, I couldn't believe how rude she was.
We wrote a guest violation report on the unauthorized occupancy of a quadruple room and the filth she left behind. The guest wrote that she would have an early check-in at 6am we said she could come and wait for her single room until 11.00am in the kitchen. Without permission she arbitrarily moved into an empty 4-bed room in dirty shoes and closed there and there guests could not get out of there at 11 o'clock creating noise not giving sleep to others .After leaving the room was scary to go in the room she what she ate that and threw the bed and towel in terrible stains had to throw it out after a day's stay.The guest behaved impudently as if she came not to a public place where others live besides her, but to her mother's house connecting everyone to her failures and problems.When guests greeted her, she negatively turned her head away. They asked me when she would move out. We take care of every guest, but if a guest bothers other guests and creates unsanitary conditions we take action because the opinions of the majority are more important and others should not suffer. We have banned this guest from staying with us, law and order is paramount.

The kitchen and the bathroom are not in the building (toilets, showers, and sinks are in separate places).

Verified reviewA 10 for me has to be an absolutely amazing place, but this wasn't far off. The guesthouse is tucked back from the main road with a beautiful garden, a good kitchen, a hot shower, and good WiFi that I only had slight issues with on the last day when it was running slow. The owner is super friendly and helpful , this really is a great place! I don't tend to book places with so few reviews, but this gem was definitely worth it and I hope she gets plenty more guests and plenty more good reviews!

Verified reviewLocation is good walking distance to the beach, supermarket and bus station. The guest house is nicely maintenain, it's old place but everything is clean and functional. It was well organized with facilities. There is beautiful garden. Bathrooms are outside the rooms in a separate building, all clean and functional, shower with hot water.
Check exchange rate when paying just in case.

Verified reviewThis is the perfect place to stay.It has everything a backpacker needs It is set in a beautiful enclosed herb,flower and tree garden with singing birds.There are plenty of places to sit down inside and out.The rooms are spacious and individual (no bunks here !) There is a kitchen,fridge and kettle so easy to self cater.There are several food stores within a few minutes and there are 3 lake beaches within 10 and 25 minutes walking distance.All this and also a delightfu fluent english speakingl hostess who will help with anything.. Highly recommended. Mike
