How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThis is a great little stay in M’Pai Bay. Lots of people flock to the bar/restaurant here for the beautiful sunset but as a guest you can get the good seats early (and enjoy your free welcome drink!) Room was spacious and despite heat still able to keep cool with the large overhead fan. The hosts, Trisha and Kristen, were both really friendly and great to chat to. Also, since our boat back to mainland wasn’t until afternoon, we were allowed to use the showers which meant we had more time to swim/snorkel.

Verified reviewNice location and they lent us their snorkels for a few hours.
No AC, which we did know. No wifi, which we assumed was because of the location but other hostels in the area seemed to have good connection. The bathroom is very basic, which was fine but could have been a little cleaner. We booked this hostel because we are vegan and like to support vegan businesses, and it makes it easier to find good food. However during our stay the restaurant was closed with no prior warning.

Verified reviewThe staff is super nice and helpful, and the bar is located literally at the best spot on the island (unless you really want to be on the beach). You get the most amazing morning calm and sunset view. The room itself was ok, clean, and with a fan, but I a bit expensive for what it was (it wasn't in the best conditions) - I do however think they will fix the little things that need to be fixed.

Verified reviewThe location, the staff and views 👌🏼
Only 2 things: No hot water in the showers & frogs coming out of the drains everytime we showered was the only downfall really but we got on with it as best we could!

Verified reviewDragonfly was exceptional. Tashsa and Kirsten were amazing hosts. They had great info and so friendly. The garden with the sea view was amazing and you can watch the best sunset from the rocks and also has access for snorkeling. The location was brilliant, very quiet but 2 mins walk to the main streets. They have a plant based menu and some lovely cocktails plus beer etc. I will definitely be staying here again.
There was nothing to not like here

Verified reviewWe stayed at the Dragonfly Guesthouse for a couple of nights which was perfect for us to enjoy what the M'Pai Bay village has to offer - we loved wondering around the village, seeing the sunset, joining in the dumpling making classes etc. - it was fun but unfortunately the sea was too rough to do any snorkeling during our stay so we missed out on that, and we were even worried about getting stranded there, as the boats were not running due to the windy conditions but luckily it was OK the day we were due to leave. We were able to get $5pp boat to the Sunset Beach (which was beautiful) and $10pp from the Koh Rong island (even though that trip was a bit tricky and delayed because of the bad weather that day but should be fine any other time). I think it's good to stay different places for a bit and enjoy all that's there - I loved everywhere we stayed on the Koh Rong and Koh Rong Samloen islands - the Dragonfly Guesthouse had a beautiful bar area, lovely staff and was a great base to enjoy the M'Pai Bay Village (but not so great for beaches or swimming).
I would have loved to have a kettle in our room for an early morning coffee. I was allowed to get hot water in the bar area but felt a bit uncomfortable doing that (as a tress-passer :)).

Verified reviewStay here if you want the feeling of being in a rustic fishing village. Staff are all lovely and very interesting. The homestay is so rustic and has a lot of charm (it’s a traditional Khmer style house).

Verified reviewMy stay at the Dragonfly was simply amazing! I loved the place - especially the wooden platforms just above the sea where you could easily spend your whole day just relaxing, enjoying some good drinks or nice veggie food. Christine and Tasha are super lovely people. They made me feel at home for the time I was there and I learned a lot about the island live talking to them. Loved it! I’m coming back :)

Verified reviewVery lovely and welcoming hosts who were always happy to answer our questions or chat. They made us feel at home, gave us interesting insights into the local community on the island, and gave the best tips for local restaurants. M’Pai Bay turned out to be a walhalla for foodies, with some must-try restaurants!!! We had some of the most amazing food here. If you want to experience the true charm of this village and eat in all the superb local restaurants, I definitely recommend staying in M’Pai Bay. You can visit the other beaches of the island easily via taxi boat (5$ pp). Dragonfly Guesthouse has a nice bar and lounge area where you can chill with ocean views, and their restaurant with vegan food is amazing. The room was according to the description, with nice decorations and a private bathroom and balcony. It was a peaceful place to stay.
The lack of airconditioning was something we had to get used to in the beginning, but thanks to the fan in the room and the ocean breeze, it was alright.

Verified reviewI extended my 3-night stay by another night here. Honestly, you could easily stay for at least a month. Tasha and Kirsten’s hospitality, the location being a paradise, the wooden house I stayed in, and its incredible comfort all made me feel right at home. The place has a plant-based kitchen, and they’re currently experimenting with new flavors. My favorite was the Scrambled Tofu Wrap! It was amazing—I practically licked my fingers. The bar’s cocktails are also excellent. You can watch the landscape from the bar through the sea and the trees! This is a perfect spot for vegan and vegetarian friends to stay at a very reasonable price while enjoying the peace of the island. There are also some small animal friends like cats and dogs around. In the evenings, there’s even a larger lizard buddy who walks along the upper beams of the bar, looking around. This place is truly wonderful—definitely visit!
Clearly nothing 😳
