Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandBEWARE! If the floor anywhere in the building including the bedrooms is wet for any reason it becomes more slippery than ice! The bathrooms! The BATHROOMS! THE BATHROOMS!! This is an on going issue for this hostel. There are not enough bathrooms and those that are there have the toilet and shower in one room. If a couple of people have a long shower at the busy time of day there are not enough available toilets for everyone else! It is bad enough in the low season. If I were in Siem Reap over the high season I would stay somewhere else because who wants to be in a queue to go to the toilet!!! The bathroom situation needs sorting out ASAP. The lounge set up is not so good now. The way the lounge used to be with the two big lounge suites facing each other was much better for the guests to interact with each other. How it is now encourages people to be unsociable - which is the last thing Western people need encouragement with!
The location is good. Nice and quiet. The swimming pool is nearly perfect. Some of the showers work. The staff are pleasant without being too friendly. The price is right for what it is. The beds are comfortable enough. The WiFi works. Diagonally opposite is "Phun's Kitchen" which serves very good quality food at a very good price. 50m up the road is Siem Reap Waxing & Spa" the women there are properly trained in the art of massage. It is not a happy ending place full of teenage girls... You will pay for what you get. US$15 will get you a one hour massage that will relax you to the state of a jellyfish. Down by the river from late afternoon onwards it is worth looking amongst the motorbike smoothie cart vendors for a teal blue sign that has pictures of smoothies and the name "Ly Ly" on it. These ladies make the world's best mango smoothie for US$1. The Bot gardens are free and well worth a visit US$2 each way tuk tuk ride. There is a black gibbon monkey in a big cage. He is very friendly and will hold your hand. He does not bite. You can reach thru the cage and massage his back. Do not feed him or give him sugar drinks or alcohol though! There are a couple of places to do with the Pol Pott era. The right one is "Cambodia Landmine Museum". It's a long way. The tuk tuk driver will wait for you. Stop in at the "Banteay Srey Butterfly Centre" on the way. In my opinion Ankor Wat is overrated. But if you want an absolutely awesome day then it is worth getting a day temple ticket for the next day, renting a scooter, get out if bed and in the road at first light and ride the two hours to "Kbal Spean" the carved river. Check out the "Ankor Center for Conservation" in the same area (check online as it has strict specific entry times twice a day). And then check out "Banteay Srei Temple" which is the most intricately carved one, on the way back.

UkraineThere is only one toilet on the entire first floor, which is combined with a shower. The staff also uses it, so sometimes you have to wait.
I liked almost everything, the staff helps with all questions. From buying bus tickets, told me where to print a visa. Everything is cleaned regularly, the area is green where you can sit in the fresh air without being in the sun. The kitchen is normal, the prices are reasonable.

UkraineOn the first floor for the whole hotel there is only one toilet, it is combined with a shower. Considering that it is visited by the staff sometimes it is impossible to get in. There is not enough shelf or hooks near the bed to conveniently place your things.
Indeed, everything is clean in the hotel. The staff is friendly. Helped to buy bus tickets, find a printer to print a visa. Very nice common recreation area, plants are planted around very beautifully. The beds are wide, comfortable, the air conditioning works comfortably.

The staff is super kind and helpfull. I’ve stayed in many hostels, but this might have been my favourite one. The hostel is owned by a local, unlike all the other hostels around. This makes it feel so much more genuine. The staff really makes an effort to help you out. I’ve booked the sunrise tour through them, which I highly recommend. They have a really nice cold pool, the dorms are very comfortable and everything is very clean. Also a nice place to meet other travellers, as it has 4 dorms and everyone is sitting outside in the evenings. Very chill vibes. Also, soo cheap!! Overall great experience.

PolandScooter rental it's a bit pricey $10 per day but it's touristic area so it's expected.
Everything was great, location is amazing, a lot of pubs, bars, restaurants, pharmacy, shops in the area, close to the markets and main pub street. Super clean, spacious. One bathroom inside the room and one outside which is perfect for the late showers. Mattress is comfortable. The reception staff is great, super friendly and helpful, especially Winz, Srey Leak and Soda. They also rent scooter, offer local tours and transfers or shuttles, have drinks and food on the site. Chilled place. They make your stay even better in Siem Reap. Value for money 100%

GermanyAC only works from 6pm-10am which is fine due to saving electricity but just be aware of that during hot season;)
It's a very nice hostel in a super central location. It's a very clean hostel with good ac in the dorms and nice common area outside. It was very social when I was there and it was easy to meet other travellers. Especially the staff was super nice and humble and always helpful sharing their tips for the area without pushing you to buy anything. I can definitely recommend staying there!

GermanySuch an amazing place! 10 out of 10, I had the most amazing time in Gecko Hostel. The place has the perfect size, it’s super easy to connect with people there and the hostel itself is super nice. Everything super clean and dorms are spacious, with curtains for privacy and AC. The staff was just so so lovely, especially a huge thank you to Winz who really made me feel like home. Also the restaurant is incredible and super fair prices. Huge recommendation, by far the best hostel experience I’ve had in Asia. Thanks again!!

United StatesI love this hostel. I enjoyed staying here so much and ended up staying way longer than I planned. The rooms/bathrooms are super clean and the common area and pool are really nice. Also the food/coffee/beer isn’t overpriced. The people who work here were super helpful and nice. It's a very chill lowkey vibe but I was also able to meet a bunch of people so it can be social if you want. Thank you so much Gecko Hostel for your kindness and hospitality! And special thank you for helping me so much with the scooter haha :) Good luck and happy Cambodian new year!
