How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewPretty close to the beach and the bed was comfortable. Mosquito net provided. Early check in was provided which was nice and kettle as well so that we could do coffee in the morning
- when it rains heavily outside, some water drops gets into the room (specially the bed). As it was raining when we were there we would wake up in the middle of the night with water in our face - there’s no hot water - you cannot wear shoes upstairs, however there was sand in the upstairs floor as well as a little poop in the middle of the corridor (it wasn’t cleaned for the duration of our stay)
Hi, thanks for staying with us in the raining season, it is rare to have rain drops through the roof, but there were 3 days of non-stop storms during your staying, it could happen in that intense weather, I’m sorry for that, but if you told me then I would move you to another room. I’m also sorry for not cleaning the geckos poops in the hallway.

Verified reviewGreat location and super friendly staff! They have a free water refill station, which I really appreciated.
You’re on an island so the mosquitoes can be a bit pesky. Wear mosquito repellent (even at night/while sleeping)
Thank you 😊

Verified reviewMayla and Ian have made a great place here. We had a room on the ground floor which was really nice. We loved Bruno (the cat) and all the advice and activities they recommended to us. One thing you have to do is mayla’s dumpling making class it’s amazing. Also eat there every night if you wish (I wish I had). Amazing stay would definitely book here again.
Thank you very much Jack for you appreciation! Hope to see you again!

Verified reviewGreat facilities, incredible location and the friendliness staff and people, even a very lovely cat called Bruno, comfortable beds with mosquito nets and good food!! We rented kayaks from one of the shops by the beach and spent a day on the small island opposite and another day we went on a beautiful walk across the island to another remote beach, seeing hornbills and monkeys! I can not wait to come back
Everything was perfect, was devastated when we had to leave
Thank you Lily, I feel happy to see all your appreciation! Hope to see you again soon!

Verified reviewFriendly staff with useful advice about the surroundings. Attached restaurant has tasty alternatives for Khmer food. Shared second floor balcony was great. Free earplugs for the noise. Clean bathrooms. Cat was cute.
Ground floor is full concrete and even daytime it is needed to put light on just to see enough in the room. Long enough cables needed to recharge since the sockets are placed high. In the ground floor noise enters from every direction. Seemed like the second floor rooms are more lit and cozy with wooden floor, maybe less noise too :)
Hi sorry for your bad experience Lassi, the ground floor is made of concrete, and it’s cooler when it’s hot outside. Sorry for the noises when it’s full house and hard to control other guests’ behavior. Btw, I’m selling Chinese food, not khmer food, but thank you for your appreciation.

Verified reviewNice shared balcony where you can sit and hang your clothes.
Shared toilets were very dirty and there was no hot water. I'm pretty sure in the 4 days of my stay they were never cleaned. You could hear everything, every noise and smell from the house, the restaurant and the street, but of course this is not the owners fault and earplugs were provided.
Hi Rebecca sorry for your bad experience, I’m pretty sure I cleaned the toilets once or twice everyday, but it’s fully booked in holidays and people just constantly used it and destroyed it, we can’t afford 24hrs cleaning so maybe why you feel not cleaned enough. Anyway we hope you have more cool travelings.

Verified reviewGreat value for the price, thanks for offering an affordable place in this paradise! Shared bathrooms were clean. Might be a bit louder in the late evening/early night but they provide good earplugs. Dumplings and sandwiches in the restaurant are great as well. Bed with mosquito net worked well. Good fan. I think staying on the upper level is better :)
Steep stairs are spooky :D
😊 thank you Moritz. Thank you for your appreciation. Yes the stairs are so steep, I guess when my khmer landlord built the house she tried to force people to have some workout there. 😂

Verified reviewThe hosts were super friendly and chatty, in a lovely location only about 3 min walk from the beach or 15 min to the secluded nearby beach. Toilets and showers were clean and well stocked. The whole island lost power between 9am-12pm but this was not their fault. The dumplings were very tasty be sure to try. Also mosquito nets on the bed was a life saver as the air was filled with bugs in the area. Their cat Bruno was very cute too!
The bed was rather uncomfortable but everything else was perfect really
Thank you Wilfred, Bruno said hi.
