Reviews of Sam's Guesthouse M'Pai Bay

Lovely guesthouse in a great location near all the restaurants and beaches in M’Pai bay. Sam was so nice and welcoming. All her pets were so relaxed and friendly, one of her dogs even sings which was so funny to see! The living room area feels very homely. A great place to say if you want to relax for a few days

Gets a bit hot in the room but Sam provided two fans which helped a lot!

Sam’s place was such a little haven in M’Pai Bay with everything you need and more, even snorkels and games, books etc. The location is so ideal and the room has everything you need for comfort. She was such a great host and made our stay in Koh Rong Samloem so special I can’t wait to return one day (and hopefully see Sam again)!!

A lovely quiet guesthouse, with great rooms all kitted out with nice touches in your room and things like snorkels, a beach mat, mozzie spray, and a yoga mat available for use. Sam really has thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable. As a solo traveller Sam also looked after me with lots of advice on where to eat and visit on this small island. You have the company (if you choose) of a gorgeous dog and 2 beautiful cats who just sleep all day in the communal area. There are great choices of places to eat and drink within short walks and spending the Khmer New Year here was a treat.

Fabulous stay at Sam’s guesthouse, Sam herself was lovely and extremely helpful, provided us with everything with needs and lots of great recs! Would recommend to anyone.

We had a really lovley stay at Sams Guesthouse, she made us feel very comfortable and welcomed! The location was great, there are lots of resturants and bars nearby, along with the beach and also shops and laundry services. Sam is a brilliant host who is knowledgabe and friendly. She made us feel at home, especially with the English tea bags:) We couldnt recommend this place enough, we will definitely be back, and hopefully for longer than 2 nights next time !

Such a great experience! Sam’s place is inviting and cozy, very clean and nicely organized. You basically have your own little living room while here which is such an additional value. You have coffee and tea whenever you need it, and she offers drinking water as well so you can minimize the plastic pollution on the island. You get two strong fans so we had no trouble sleeping at all. She truly makes you feel like home ❤️

Sam is an excellent host. She was very helpful when I was unwell. Sam's rooms are lovely and have great value for money. The is a lovely community feel in MPai, and Sam advised us of great places to visit

We absolutely loved our time on koh rong sanloem and at Sam’s guesthouse. She was absolutely amazing and helped us with anything we needed. She gave us loads of information about the island, recommended places which were good to eat and any events that were happening and she was always up for a chat. We wanted to stay an extra night as we loved it and she happily accommodated us at a discounted price which was fab! The room was lovely, and perfect for what we needed for a few nights. The rooms do get quite hot obviously but there is a fan. It’s in such a good location too, a couple minute walk to the beach and lots of bars and restaurants around. If you’re thinking of staying on koh rong sanloem I would highly recommend here! The island does experience some power cuts but they didn’t last long at all and weren’t an inconvenience for us, but it’s not any of the hotel/guesthouses fault so don’t blame them for it.

Amazing host Sam, absolute friendly atmosphere, you feel part of the community on the island. MPay Bay is not for everyone, but if you have warm heart, you will love it here. Need to come back in the future.

For us it was perfect!

The hosts were absolutely amazing, they were really friendly and helpful. The accommodation was clean and the location was great, really good value for money.

The room got quite hot due to there being no air con and only a fan, however this was expected and still think it was very good value for money

From the beginning Sam was so helpful. Before we even arrived she was able to help us out with boats and arrival to the island. Once we arrived she was so helpful and made us feel so so welcome! Truly went above and beyond. The location was perfect, fabulous bedroom, fabulous bathroom (and warm shower!) and beautiful pets! A must stay in Samloem. Thank you for everything Sam! Xx

Great little spot on M’Pai Bay, with a very sweet host! Really helpful via WhatsApp and helped sort ferries and diving and made us feel very welcome. Great to have free water refills too.

Central to M’Pai Town, room is cozy with everything you need and Sam is a wonderful host.

Perfectly fine, could borrow snorkelling equipment

A bit run down sink in the bathroom just poured out onti the floor which was a bit strange.

Sam and her other half was brilliant! So helpful and accommodating! Sam organised my diving even before I got to the island and when I arrived she patched me up as I had a fall earlier in the day on my bike and then carried on to help me for the rest of the time with patches! If you find yourself on the island I would definitely stay here! So clean and peaceful. I extended another night as just didn’t want to leave!

Good location, nice and chilled area. Sam wasn’t there when we stayed but was helpful over text!

We weren’t always able to use the social area as it wasn’t really communal, more for the people who stayed there permantly.

The room was simple but enough to stay there for a few days. It was clean and it had a fun in case of warm nights. The owner, Sam, was very nice and gave to us all the useful info about the best places to eat, to book activities…We enjoyed it there!

Excellent home stay with a friendly laid back host. Sweet cats and dogs roaming around. Comfortable, clean room with a fan. No problems with mosquitos in the room and doesn't get too hot. Sam is very helpful and knowledgeable and gives the best advice what to do around the area and where to eat. Don't be put off by the number of reviews as the place is fairly new. Would have loved to stay longer. Highly recommend!

Sam was the best host ever, she knew the best spots for snorkelling, where to go to see the plankton at night, best places to eat in town, best routes for hiking. MPai Bay is a small place but we would have had to go on private tours to do all the things we did if we hadn't had Sam's advice.

Sam is an awesome host. She has all of the intel on the best places to eat, drink, snorkel etc. She knows all of the owners of the local restaurants and can tell you when and what is open as some of the restaurants have irregular opening times. We found our stay at Sam’s Place very comfortable and Sam made us feel totally welcome. The room was quiet and clean and there are outside soft chairs and sofa to relax. The beach is about 50 metres away; the mini Mart about 20 metres away. Highly recommended.

The room was spacious and clean, the facilities and staff were great, I’ve even decided to stay on here as a long term guest and couldn’t be happier!
