How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewLocation was incredible. Comfortable bed & clean.
Sadly there is so much rubbish washed up on the beach from the ocean. No reflection to the property. The government/ military should help with the clean up to protect this beautiful island & wildlife.

Verified reviewLiving on the beach is amazing The food is fantastic Definitely bring a book
Sleeping in a hammock isn’t exactly easy, it takes a couple of rough nights to used to. Once you’ve got into the hang of it, it’s surreal waking up so close to the ocean. The food is a little more expensive than on the mainland, so it can be easy to rack up a bigger bill than expected. But the food is delicious so it is worth it. Lots of sandflies around, bring insect repellent (and lots of sunscreen)

Verified reviewThe bungalows are basic but very close to the beach. You cannot expect any luxuries.
The coffee is bit overpriced and the generator is super loud between 18-23h.

Verified reviewAmazing place. You should expect basic, no fans, bucket shower and no phone service (you can go have a drink to the place on the other beach if needed). Good bunk beds with mosquitos net. The place is perfect to chill, with nice commun area in the center. The breakfast included is simple but good (coffee not included). The food is good and you have some choices. You can walk on the island, have boat trip or just hang out. Great staff and good mood all around.

Verified reviewSuch a relaxing and wonderful place. Really affordable for such an incredible experience, to be able to stay in a place like Koh Ta Kiev on such a budget was so nice. The staff are amazing, and the food is incredible. So nice to just laze around the accommodation, swim and go on walks.
It could get hot in the dorm, but that is totally to be expected and it's stated that there's no fans/air conditioning as there's limited power available.

Verified reviewKoh ta kiev is a paradise! Forget Koh Rong and it's endless bars and parties... If you were looking for a relaxed island with laid back hippie vibes, this will become your new home!! Lazy sunsets, luscious jungle trails, and nothing to do except swim in the sea, swing in your hammock, read, eat, drink, and walk. I couldn't have wished for a better experience. Thank you for memories of a lifetime
Nothing it was exceptional! A home from home

Verified reviewThe foooood - so good! You don't have to bring anything, just enjoy their wonderful food, meals around 5 dollar, fruit salad 3, small fruit salad 1.5 dollar Staff and Chris friendly and great people Sitting area very nice Nearby Kaktus Hostel with nice beach, activities and more food/drinks
Too basic, a bit dirty, not well maintained - toilets a bit smelly, wet floor, showers don't cover your body when you are inside, you shower with the water from an open barrel, bed in dorm with dirty linen, dorm not tidy/very clean A lot of trash on beach and in water I was eaten by sandflies - their bites itch so much, even after days Bungalow might be good alternative Island was too small for me, you can't do anything besides chill, bathe, go for small jungle walks or participate in Kaktus activities

Verified reviewI spent two nights in the bungalow with garden view. The place is rustic and minimal but the bungalow was cozy and had a private bathroom and the food was good. The position is great on a sandy beach with lots of comfortable chairs and places to hang a hammock. The staff was super helpful and friendly; the dogs were also really nice. From the hostel there are paths through the jungle reaching all the other parts of the island, they rent a kaya and, snorkels and there are volleyballs and badminton equipment for free.
Unluckily they don't do boat excursions daily if there is a private pickup planned in the afternoon, I would have really enjoyed it.

Verified reviewFood is great, location is good (if you want to be in a remote place) and friendly staff
Even considering it is not a place you go for comfort and cleaningless, there is a long way to go on this. The tent we got was completely useless. Not a single closing zipper was working, so it was not possible to close the tent (good luck with mosquitoes and other insects). The tent was full of holes and the 2 nights we stayed there it rained so we woke up at 3:30 am due to rain also inside the tent. The 2nd night there were also very strong winds on top of the rain so the tent completely got destroyed and fell on top of us. The showers are completely to the open, which I think can be very easily fixed with some kind of curtains. While the staff is friendly, they don't really do much on the service side. They don't seem to care much if you have any issues and wait until you solve it yourself. They kind of tried to help us in the end, but by then, it was too late, and we left one night earlier. When paying the bill at the end, I had to check everything, and we had around 20 USD extras that I had to mention for it to be removed from the bill. I am not saying this was on purpose, but you need to be careful when paying. I think the place has great potential, people staying there are nice and the atmosphere is good but there is a lot of room for improvement.

Verified reviewI seriously loved this place. I originally planned to stay 3 night, but extended to 5 nights and even then didn't want to leave. I love how back-to-the-basics it was, it's like going back in time. I initially slept in a Tent, but then switched to hammock, and can definitely recommend it. They are much more comfortable than I thought, and they have super nice spots under the trees There are some tracks in the jungle for hiking, not super long ones (Max 2h one way), but in a very beautiful forest. It was also very social place and all people that I met were amazing.

Verified reviewWelcoming staff and great location. Tranquil beach and a bar to meet fellows. Policy of trash picking for a drink was nice and keeps the stretch of beach nice and clean. Tours available and happy hours daily. Electricity limited certain hours a day is enough to keep charged.

Verified reviewBasically the location was incredible. If you are a person who likes to wake up with the roosters and stroll to the ocean to witness the birth of a new days sun, then this place is going to be incredible for you. Theres a 1km beach outside, the staff we so friendly, and welcoming straight from the boat, and had a few issues when i got there because the tent i had booked was damaged so they straight away upgraded me to a private bungalow with double bed, mosquito net and private bathroom for now additional cost. When i left, i even forgot my telephone on the island, i contacted them straight away and they found it for me and shipped it back to me in my next destination the very next day. Amazing team, and great island.
