Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The only thing that might pose an issue for some is the limited floor space if you have a big luggage and need to repack your bag, but then again, it's a backpacker hostel, so try to pack light(er) [which is difficult in Korea because of all the shopping!]
-Brian, Jina, and the volunteers (Ley and Dori) became like family to me. It's the only hostel where I've left tearing up. This is a mom and pop run hostel that feels like home away from home. -Everyone was super helpful and friendly. Jina and Brian gave great suggestions/reminders everyday of what you could do/eat/see. They knew all the hot spots! -Great common areas. -The hostel was super social without being a party hostel; people would go out every night, but were super respectful about people's sleep. -Great location in Hapjeong, just one stop away from Hongdae. I liked that it was less busy than Hongdae. It was also a 10 minute walk to the Han river, which was amazing if you ever get insomnia; you can wake up early and walk to sunrise. -People like Zzzip so much that that come back to Korea...just to stay at this hostel. I've never seen this before. But I completely get it. Zzzip was my favourite place to stay in Seoul. -Thank you so much, Brian and Jina!!!! -The soap smelled so good.

Nothing, we had no complaints at all.
Jina and Bryan were both so lovely! We were booked into a room upstairs but Jina sorted a room downstairs for us when she saw our large suitcases. The facilities are great, the free breakfast is good too, and the room was clean and cosy. Everyone else staying there was also super friendly too, travelling to a new country so far from home can be so nerve wracking but Jina, Bryan, and the rest of the guests at ZZZIP made us feel completely at home. The property is in the perfect place for exploring too, it's not too far to travel to other parts of Korea for day trips and there's also loads to do in Hongdae itself as well. We would definitely stay here again in the future!

location is amazing really close to the subway, there is a nice breakfast included, wifi works great, as there is a single common area to social its really easy to meet people so if youre looking to meet people its a great hostel to do that

Everything about this hostel is great. The private room was comfortable, and the location is excellent for exploring both Hongdae and the rest of Seoul. But what makes this hostel amazing, are the owners. They couldn’t be more friendly and constantly giving recommendations. The group chat amongst travellers helps create a great social stay

One of the best places I've been to. Jina and Bryan were incredibly kind and they have created an amazing atmosphere for travellers. They had recommendations for every question I had and more. Would absolutely recommend anyone to book when they have beds available.

Bryan and Jina made my trip. They are super caring and gave me recs for shopping and eating. I love the coziness of the hostel and also how social it is. This is the best place to be if you look for new friends to hangout with in Seoul! will def come back again.
